(he/him)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 5 years of experience working with adults. Throughout my career, I have treated a wide range of symptoms in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. I have experience with working on a variety of life challenges including; racial and systemic issues, relationships, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, self worth, self harm/SI, and more . My hope is that, through a collaborative process, we can work together to help improve wellbeing, understand emotions, and improve behaviors. My approach to therapy is combined from my years of using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy and a client centered approach. My goal is to take the knowledge I have and help you navigate your life and goals.
During our first session, we will go over introductions. I will share about my work, the limitations and scope of my practice, and then we will spend some time getting to know you. We will spend time getting to know the parts of you that you are comfortable sharing which can include; family, relationships, childhood, school/education, wellbeing, support system, and past therapy experiences. I want to know what your expectations are with therapy and the goals you would like to work on.
My greatest strength comes from my ability to listen, identify strengths, and build on hobbies and interests as a way to navigate through goals. I bring about humor and also provide different examples of metaphors and analogies using pop culture, sports, and interests as necessary to assist each individual person. Most importantly, I use different approaches and also research new approaches that best fit each and every individual person I work with. A question I get asked often is if I assign homework and my answer is that it depends on what your goals are. If homework and assignments are helpful to reach your goal, we can establish that and create assignments that helps you reach your goal. But, if it is something that may not be beneficial for you, then, we don't necessarily have to.
I love working with adults who are determined, passionate and hopeful. Therapy can be scary and confusing, my hope is that we can work together to develop tools, plans, and goals to thrive.
