Valerie L Yorker holds a BS in Psychology from Penn State University, University Park, PA and MSW from Columbia University, NY, NY. Valerie is both an IIC and IIH in the Perform Care system of care. She provides both individual and group therapy. The population of individuals Valerie has provided therapy services for include working with the mentally ill, dual diagnosed, DDD population, ER assessments, inpatient, outpatient, partial care, RTC level of care, and incarcerated individuals. Her experience includes but is not limited to the assessment and diagnosis of youth, adults and families. Valerie has experience with developing and implementing therapeutic interventions and treatment plans with goals and objectives along with education culture and recreation.
I try to start where the client is at. I will ask you your goals for therapy and techniques that were helpful and approach your needs at your pace. I try to be the therapist that I would want. Establish rapport for the therapeutic relationship is essential.
Treatment modalities include but are not limited to: Play therapy, ACT, CBT, Solution focused therapy, therapeutic games, role playing, modeling, art therapy, music therapy, mindfulness, talk therapy and guided imagery. Valerie's therapy style is to start with understanding where the individual is at and see what works best for them.
