It can feel like addiction is writing your story, but it doesn't have to! We all have the strength to learn how to work with our brain and not let it have all the control. My goal is to help you hone the skills needed to find that strength and to help begin writing the story of the life that you have always envisioned for yourself. Using skills from DBT, Attachment Theory, Nervous System Training, and Solution Focused therapy I make it my goal to help people navigate the stressors that come with life whether big or small. My specialties include, but are not limited to: substance use, anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, and trauma.
I want to begin therapy by ensuring we are both comfortable with the fit. We will spend time discussing goals, hobbies, and just finding a way to connect. This will help me formulate what is needed when it comes to treatment planning and deciding on which therapy will work best.
During my career as a therapist I have worked in all levels of care beginning with psychiatric hospitals to rehabs, intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. This has allowed me to see many forms of mental health diagnosis as well as get necessary professional training to handle the various diagnosis.
I work with clients 18+ struggling with substance use, depression, anxiety, grief, stress, and trauma.
I have been using DBT for a few years in individual and group settings. This is one of the leading treatments for addiction and trauma amongst what is was created for (SI, borderline, bi-polar emotional struggles).
Useful for "change of life" circumstances like a divorce, car accident, work -related problems, etc.
We begin attachments at a pre-verbal (infant) stage of our life. It is something we have very little control of when it comes to the forming portion of attachment but we do have control over how we navigate it within relationships and the world around us.

Darrien is a wonderful person to work with. In my experience, this type of thing is very hit or miss. I consider myself very fortunate to have been paired with Darrien. She is a very understanding person, and she is very direct with me in a good way. I'm grateful to have her as my therapist and I am looking forward to seeing how much more she can help me improve as things progress.
