Sonya is a licensed professional counselor and board certified dance/movement therapist whose work is informed by humanistic, person-centered, and strengths-based approaches. She strives to create an open and safe space for clients to be their authentic self, explore emotions, expressions and relationships, and find ways to continue growing within the therapeutic relationship. Sonya’s theoretical framework values the following core principles: communication, and relationships; supporting tension release and vitality; and the importance of meeting clients where they are physically, emotionally, and developmentally within a trusting environment. Sonya focuses on solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral therapy approaches, but employs additional options as needed, depending on each client's personal journey towards healing.
