LMHC, 16 years of experience
Hi there- my name is Dan. I would be happy to work with you! Are you at a point in your life where you are overwhelmed and seem to be stuck? It happens to all of us at times. Are you experiencing loss of motivation, struggling with sadness, obssessive thoughts, or anxiety? Are you experiencing consistent conflicts in close relationships, with parenting, or having difficulty communicating with your partner? Together- we can identify what is not working and find ways to get your life back in balance. I teach clients how to build happiness and focus on accurate cognitions and realistic expectations instead of allowing anxious thoughts to ruin your day/week. Resolving these issues reduces stress and worry, increases your productivity at work and enables your relationships to be more satisfying again. I conduct EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) sessions and consistently see clients experience relief from trauma memories. Starting therapy can be scary but you are making a choice to help yourself. You deserve a space to heal, feel safe and grow. I'll treat you with compassion, warmth, and empathy and use evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the patterns and habits that keep you stuck
Clients can expect me to be cordial and focused on getting to know you to identify your strengths, goals, and your motivation for beginning your therapy journey. I will ask you to explain your hopes for therapy and will get a psycho- social history that allows me as your therapist to understand you better and provide the best therapy experience possible.
I have the most experience and success in treating depression, stress, anxiety, addiction, resolving relationship issues and trauma and abuse. My specialties are CBT to restructure and reframe cognitions to experience more healthy emotions and make better decisions. I am very successful in helping clients identify anxious cognitions and strategize various techniques to have reduced anxiety. I conduct EMDR sessions designed to significantly reduce trauma distress and increase positive cognitions about yourself, related to past trauma. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is one of the most successful interventions to treat trauma, based on research and personal experience with it since 2019. I have consistently seen positive results with this intervention. This often results in fewer to no nightmares and will reduce your anxiety and improve current functioning. EMDR results can vary but positive results are consistent. I encourage you to research this on your own if you aren't already aware of this modality.
I have the most success working with motivatated adults and youth who are open to finding more healthy ways of functioning and are willing to do the work of therapy necessary between sessions.
I use this to reduce or eliminate trauma symptoms and increase positive cognitions. I also use this to change inaccurate cognitions leading to anxiety.
I teach clients to identify distorted cognitions and learn these patterns, assist in using positive reframes and learning to understand how changing negative cognitions can promote positive emotions and actions.
Focuses on how faith can relieve worry and help one to have a sense of purpose that creates hope, peace and finding the courage to love oneself and others. Biblical knowledge and application can help one gain wisdom and learn strategies to problem solve and increase positivity in relationships. Provide education from experience with faith and it’s role in managing stress and finding a deeper spiritual connection with the God of the Bible-God’s Word.
This therapy focuses on strategies to stay in the present moment to experience calmness and a greater awareness of cognitions and its effect on functioning. Guidance on the role of mindfulness in learning to relax and increase focus and awareness.
