LMFT, 28 years of experience
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 28 years of professional experience in the mental and behavioral health field, I understand the importance and impact of mental health on our overall health, happiness, stability, and relationships. The journey to healing can be scary and hard for many, and I appreciate your courage to heal. My personal lived experiences, along with my professional and educational background, provide me with skills and knowledge that will add value to the quality of your life and relationships with yourself and others.
Initial sessions with me will be a time for me to learn about your life story and goals for therapy. Clients that work with me can expect to feel welcomed, comfortable, safe, and secure. You can expect to gain insight and self and other awareness into your emotional needs and the emotional needs of love ones. You will better understand and be able to experience the full spectrum of human emotions in ways that allow you to healthily use your voice, walk in your power, and not shrink. You will learn to thrive in your life and relationships in ways that bring about a renewed sense of deep connection, fulfillment, clarity, joy, and peace.
My approach is gentle, direct, collaborative, individualized, and my depth and curiosity will guide you to the places within you and your relationships that need healing, helping you become emotionally and relationally wealthy, deeply connected, feeling seen, heard, confident, clear, secure, and empowered in your relationship with yourself and others.
If you find yourself feeling misunderstood, frustrated, sad, alone, lonely, disconnected, and uncertain in your relationships, and you want more relationship success, deeper connection, fulfilled needs in your relationships, and to feel seen, heard, and understood, I can help you nurture and invest in your Relational Wealth (having strong, positive, quality, not just quantity, relationships and social connections), so you can experience emotional security, trust, a sense of belonging, and the quality of relationships you desire.
EFT is rooted in attachment theory and suggests that all humans have emotional needs that when met helps us be our healthiest emotionally. EFT helps you feel your deepest emotions, helps you identify what your emotional needs are, helps you effectively communicate to others what your needs are, and helps you have new, different, healthier, and more fulfilling relationship experiences with yourself and others.
Attachment-based Therapy (ABT) looks at the influence early childhood experiences and relationships with caregivers has on adults' ability to form healthy and secure relationships. When these early childhood relationship experiences aren't strong or secure, our mental and emotional wellbeing are negatively affected. ABT explores and heals those early childhood relationships and wounds so you can develop healthier relationships.
Your lived experiences influence how you understand and make sense of yourself and the world. Through Narrative Therapy, I will be curious, listen, identify narratives that contribute to your problem, and challenge assumptions. These methods will help you understand how the stories you tell yourself are helpful and unhelpful, help you expand your sense of self, and help you consider new possibilities.
Person-centered Therapy, also known as Client-centered Therapy considers who each individual client is and their inherent ability to heal and grow. I will create a supportive, accepting, and judgment free space for you to fully explore your thoughts and feelings, lending to discovery and change.
I will use Psychodynamic Therapy to carefully listen to you, create a safe space for you, empathize with your experiences and emotions, and interpret how experiences you've had may unknowingly continue to impact your life in ways that are undesirable, unhelpful, or constraining. These interventions will help you gain insight into your attachments and connections with important others and free you to be in healthier connection with others while being a healthier individual.
