Colleen Torphy
Hi there, I'm Colleen! Are you struggling to juggle all the tasks life has thrown at you? Do you feel so overwhelmed that you can't be present in your relationships? Is it difficult to give yourself credit even when it's deserved? It can be hard to navigate these struggles alone without support.
My passion is helping clients reach self-awareness, identify unhealthy patterns in relationships and effectively build the skills to overcome stressors throughout their lifespan.
My passion is helping clients reach self-awareness, identify unhealthy patterns in relationships and effectively build the skills to overcome stressors throughout their lifespan. The most important goal for me as a clinician is that my clients feel safe, seen and understood during our time together. I have 10+ years of experience in the human services/mental health field and have worked across various settings including the juvenile justice system, school setting, in-home treatment with children and families, and intensive outpatient and private practice settings. I approach treatment from an ecosystemic lens and my focus is engagement, empowerment and progress. I consider myself an eclectic therapist who caters treatment to best meet my client's needs. I subscribe to person-centered, solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral approaches with an emphasis on psychoeducation. My specialty is working with the teenage and adult population regarding issues such as depression, anxiety, isolation, life transitions, interpersonal relationships and boundaries, poor self-concept, and grief and loss. I also enjoy working with the entire family system to help understand core dynamics and help facilitate positive change. I truly look forward to the privilege of working alongside you to meet your personal goals and lead a more joyful, fulfilling life!
First session
I know how difficult it can be to take the first step in reaching out for support, so it's important to me that new clients are met with warmth and compassion during our first session. During this time, we will go over the reasons you scheduled the appointment, relevant history and goals for our work together. No need to feel nervous or intimidated if you're a first timer!
