Welcome to Grow Therapy. I'm Dr. Frank J. Gallo, a licensed psychologist in Rhode Island (License: PS02017) and Massachusetts (License: PSY9800). I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, anger, and the psychological challenges that often come with high-demand careers and significant life transitions. I use a structured, evidence-based approach, with a particular emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, to help you build resilience, clarify your values, and make meaningful changes in how you think and respond to difficulty. If you're looking for a therapist who brings both depth and a practical framework to the work, I may be the right fit.
To make the most of our first session, I ask that you complete all requested forms and documents at least 24 hours in advance. This helps me come prepared with a clearer picture of your background and goals and builds a safe foundation for our work together, so we can spend the first session focused mostly on what brings you into therapy. Please don't hesitate to reach out before this first appointment with any questions. My approach uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a structured, scientifically supported process. By engaging in this work, you will learn to use mental flexibility and practical strategies to navigate life’s challenges. This training addresses larger behavioral patterns rather than quick fixes; consistent application of these skills can help you foster emotional resilience and build a life aligned with your values. While this effort requires a willingness to engage with discomfort, practicing these tools has the potential to help you break free from old habits and move toward the life you want to live.
You may choose me as your therapist if you are looking for a practical, structured, and direct approach centered on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This approach stands out for its emphasis on empowerment, acceptance, and change. I use experiential exercises to help you explore how your thoughts, feelings, and actions align with your values in real-life situations. This process can facilitate a path toward “valued living,” which may help you navigate life’s challenges with greater purpose. Our work together is built on a collaborative environment that encourages candor and feedback, fostering a strong working alliance that guides your personal growth.
I primarily work with people struggling with anxiety or depression-related problems, anger, or post-traumatic stress affecting their lives. My approach, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), may be ideal for people willing to try new ways of relating to unpleasant thoughts and feelings rather than just trying to “get rid” of them. If your goal is to stop letting tough thoughts and feelings control your life and you want to start taking action now to build a life that truly aligns with your personal values—like interacting effectively with your coworkers or caring for your kids lovingly—then you may be an excellent fit for my practice. I’m best positioned to serve people ready to be open and learn how to live a meaningful, fulfilling life, even when things are hard.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a structured, scientifically supported process designed to help people develop mental flexibility. Through this approach, a person will learn to engage with difficult thoughts and feelings more effectively, rather than struggling to suppress or avoid them. This training focuses on helping a person clarify what’s important by identifying their personal values so they can begin taking committed action toward the life they want to live. Engaging in this work may help a person break free from limiting patterns and support a more meaningful, values-driven way of navigating life’s challenges.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Therapy uses scientifically supported principles and practices designed to help a person further develop and strengthen mental flexibility, enabling them to adapt to situational demands with awareness and openness. This approach incorporates breathing and relaxation strategies and exercises. These practices can support a person in navigating life’s challenges, fostering mental agility, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy
Prolonged exposure therapy is a scientifically supported treatment for a post-traumatic stress injury. This therapy helps individuals safely and under controlled conditions confront trauma-related memories and situations. This process can help reduce the power these experiences have, potentially decreasing symptoms like anxiety and avoidance and supporting overall mental health.
