Hello and welcome! My name is Amy and I've been working in the mental health field since 2015. I graduated with my Master of Arts (Counseling) from Oakland University in 2017 and am fully licensed in the state of Michigan. I have experience working with a wide variety of individuals at all stages of their lives. My areas of specialization are working with teens and adults to address life transitions, self-esteem, trauma, personality disorders, depression and anxiety. I have both training and experience in DBT and EMDR treatments. Creating a safe and supportive environment is at the heart of my practice.
Starting therapy can be a difficult step for us to take sometimes and my goal is to make you feel safe in the therapy session. Our first session helps us make sure we are a good fit for each other. It is important to me to make sure you feel comfortable. We will also go over treatment expectations and explore the current challenges you are looking for support with.
First and foremost, my goal is to build trust and connection to create an environment of safety and growth. I do this by being authentically myself and providing a nonjudgmental space for you. Therapy is a collaborative experience, and I find it important to work with you as a team to help you meet your goals. Everyone comes to therapy with their own unique experiences and I believe treatment should be individualized to meet you where you are at and in a way that best supports you. I have a toolbox of many evidenced based skills and am always growing my knowledge so that I can best support those I work with.
My ideal client is someone who is interested in making change in their life. Growth and healing can be challenging, but with support it can be a lot easier. Be it navigating serious mental health crisis's, the challenges of a new transition in one's life, menopause, family difficulties, or simply working towards a mentally healthier life, I am grateful to be able to be a safe space for you along the way.
