About me

Hi, I'm Heather. Do you want to strive to be your best self? Are the stresses of life making you feel overwhelmed? Are you struggling to feel happy and find meaning in your life? I empower individuals to help strive to be the best version of themselves. Together we can create a plan to help change your life for the better. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, life changes, or past trauma or abuse, I'm here to help. Reaching out for help can feel scary, but it's the first step to change, and I am here to help understand your unique experience. I believe you have within yourself the ability to be who you want to be; however, you might need an extra push, a different perspective, or to learn and practice new skills in order to get there. I tailor therapy to each individual and incorporate evidence-based techniques to help you overcome the habits and thoughts that have you feeling stuck. I look forward to working with you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

After our first initial counseling session, we will begin to work toward your individual therapy goals. This will look different for everyone depending on your current issues, goals, and any preferences you might have. We may be working on identifying and changing the thoughts and beliefs you hold that cause you to feel hopeless, stressed, or angry. We could be working toward healing your past traumas using a trauma-focused approach. Whatever your goals are, after working with me, you should be making good progress toward them. You will learn healthy coping skills, better habits, and more positive, realistic beliefs about yourself and others.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I use a variety of evidence-based therapy treatments based on each client and their current issues and preferences. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques often due to our thought patterns heavily influencing how we feel and what we do. However, I also utilize positive psychology, mindfulness, trauma-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Client-Centered approaches when needed.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My strengths in counseling include adults who are struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, abuse, life changes, anger, and relationship issues.
