Hi! I’m Christopher Ortega, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a certified Sexologist through the American Board of Sexology. I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate concerns around intimacy, sexual health, identity, and emotional connection. My approach is affirming, inclusive, and grounded in the belief that healing happens when we feel safe enough to show up as our full selves. Whether you’re working through relationship challenges, exploring your sexuality or gender, or simply looking for a space to process life’s complexities, I’m here to support you with compassion and respect. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where we can talk openly—especially about the parts of life that are often kept quiet. Therapy with me is a collaborative process, and together we’ll work toward deeper understanding, stronger relationships, and meaningful, lasting change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming space where we focus on getting to know each other. I’ll ask some questions about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and anything you feel is important to share. There’s no pressure to dive too deep right away—we move at your pace. My goal is for you to feel heard, respected, and supported as we begin building a therapeutic relationship together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I’d say my greatest strengths as a provider are my warmth, openness, and ability to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen and accepted. I’m not afraid to talk about the topics that are often hard to bring up—whether it’s about sex, identity, or emotional pain—and I do so with compassion and curiosity. I also bring flexibility to my work, adapting my approach to fit each client’s unique needs while staying grounded in honesty and collaboration.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I’m best positioned to serve individuals and couples who are ready to explore their identities, deepen their relationships, and have open, honest conversations—whether about sex, emotions, or life transitions. While I specialize in sex therapy, I treat all aspects of mental health with the same care and compassion. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, or personal growth, and are looking for a therapist who creates a supportive, affirming space for the full range of their experiences.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my practice, I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients explore how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. I like CBT because it’s practical—it gives us tools we can use in real time to challenge unhelpful patterns and build healthier ones. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about being curious, noticing what’s showing up, and making intentional shifts that align with who you want to be.

Couples Counseling

In couples counseling, I create a space where both partners feel heard and understood. My goal is to help you slow things down, tune into each other’s experiences, and rebuild connection through honest communication and empathy. It’s not about blaming—it’s about growing together and finding new ways to support each other.

Eclectic

In my work, I take an eclectic approach because I know that no two people—or relationships—are the same. I pull from different therapeutic models depending on what fits best for you, whether that’s exploring past experiences, learning practical tools, or just having a space to feel seen. Therapy with me is flexible, collaborative, and always centered around your unique needs and goals.

Gender-affirming therapy

In my practice, I approach gender with affirmation, respect, and openness. Gender-affirmative therapy means creating a space where you don’t have to explain or defend who you are—where your identity is honored and supported. Whether you’re exploring, transitioning, or just needing a place to be fully yourself, I’m here to walk alongside you with care and curiosity.

Sex Therapy

In sex therapy, I provide a space where we can talk openly about sexual health, intimacy, desire, and everything in between—without shame or judgment. I believe that sexuality is a vital part of our well-being, and I’m here to support you in exploring it with honesty and compassion. Whether you’re navigating challenges or just want to better understand yourself, we’ll work together at your pace, with care and curiosity.
