I am a licensed professional counselor in Virginia with over 10 years experience. I help mothers and new parents with managing the transitions, demands, and challenges of pregnancy and parenthood in order to show up in the best way for themselves and their loved ones. I also assist clients with understanding and processing stress related to cultural bias and racial trauma and incorporate practices that promote healing and empowerment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will start with introductions and learning a little about one another's background, allowing you the opportunity to ask any general questions that you my have. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy and begin to work together to create a wellness plan with goals that are specific to your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, I bring compassion and a deep commitment to seeing the uniqueness of the individual and creating a safe space built on mutual accountability. We work collaboratively to develop actionable, manageable healing plans that are empowering and as unique as you are. This approach fosters trust, respect, and tangible progress on your unique healing journey.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with mothers and parents during the perinatal period, or those considering parenthood that may have worries or lack confidence in their abilities to adjust to the demands of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, parenthood, or family transitions. They may experience feelings of anxiety, depression, inadequacy, or doubt in their abilities to fulfill this role. I infuse cultural knowledge and practices in my work and enjoy serving POC clients.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help my clients identify challenging thought patterns that are negatively impacting aspects of their lives and assist them in challenging these and adopting healthier thoughts and habits that align with their true potential and desired goals. I place emphasis on the importance of building a strong rapport and therapeutic alliance as well as psychoeducation to create an environment that supports growth and personal empowerment.

Integrative

I draw from and utilize techniques from various treatment methods including humanistic, CBT, mindfulness, trauma-informed and solution-focused therapies to create a personalized approach based on my clients' needs. As we are all unique, it is important that pathways to healing are personalized to address individual needs.
