Hello my name is Madonna Dishmon. I am a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 15 plus years of experience in providing therapeutic support to individuals, couples, and families. I have a passion for helping people. I have always been a helper in my family, community and professional career. I have a strong background in cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, anxiety, depression, individual and relationship counseling, I am committed to helping clients navigate life's challenges, heal from past experiences, and work toward a healthier, more fulfilling future.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first thing to expect to happen in your first session with me is, I will ask about what brought you to counseling and explore your current struggles or challenges. As my client you will have the opportunity to share your reasons for seeking therapy and any significant events or feelings you are experiencing. Also I will address any initial concerns or questions and ensuring that you as a client feels heard and respected. Overall, the goal of the first session is to foster a sense of trust and understanding while setting a foundation for future work. It’s important for you as the client to know that you are in a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can work towards your emotional or psychological goals at your own pace.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Madonna uses a Holistic approach to therapy and is also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Shadow Work, Mindfulness therapy, Naturopathic Therapeutic techniques and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are empathy and active listening. I feel that people want to first and for most be heard, understood, accepted and not judged. I have worked hard to have the ability to deeply understand and relate to my clients' experiences, creating a space where they feel truly heard and valued. I believe when we actively listen it helps in building rapport and trust. I pride myself in being able to work with clients from diverse backgrounds, recognizing the importance of cultural, social, and individual differences in shaping their experiences and struggles. I specialize in working with the BIPOC community. With over a decade of experience, I specializes in culturally responsive therapy, addressing issues such as racial trauma, identity development, and intergenerational healing. I employ an integrative therapeutic approach, combining cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices, to create a safe and empowering space for all clients. In addition, I believe my strong communication skills, have allowed me the ability to communicate clearly, compassionately, and effectively, ensuring clients understand and feel understood throughout the therapeutic process. Lastly, being able to adapt and be flexible. Each client is unique, so being able to adapt approaches and techniques to fit individual needs is key. This may involve drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities in order to meet each clients individual needs. These strengths, combined with a commitment to ongoing learning and self-improvement are what I feel are my strengths as a provider.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I specialize in working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families. I have an extensive counseling background working in private practice with diverse multicultural groups, socioeconomically challenged individuals, as well as working with teens and adults from the LBGTQ community. I worked for 8 plus years with children & adolescents who were considered at risk, and youth in residential treatment facilities and juvenile detention centers. I also have a passion for couples therapy. I take a holistic approach to relationship counseling, integrating mindfulness and somatic work to help partners foster deeper emotional connections, improve communication, and navigate challenges with greater awareness. With a deep commitment to creating a safe and inclusive space, I supports couples in understanding their patterns, healing past wounds, and cultivating healthier, more fulfilling relationships, by blending traditional therapeutic techniques with body-based and mindfulness practices, I empower clients to engage in meaningful growth—both individually and together.
