Congratulations on taking the first step toward wellness. Let me share a little about myself. I work primarily with mood disorders, (depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder etc) and I take a holistic approach to mental health. I believe change is possible when we are willing to put in the work. A second area of work is couples. I use different tools including assessments to help identify strengths and areas that need improvement in the relationship.
During an intake we briefly take care of the basic logistics and business related aspects of therapy and then we focus on gathering background information and history of major events. My clients also have an opportunity to discuss their expectations and ask any questions about my professional profile. A main focus will be to identify possible areas for overall wellness improvement in the areas of physical, emotional or social health. At the same time we will identify specific targets to work on, whether it is a cognitive, emotional or behavioral problem, we will start working on a treatment plan and setting goals for therapy.
I have great empathy but I also have a very dynamic, hands on approach to therapy. “Just talking” is not enough, I present my clients with support beyond “just talking” in the form of lifestyle changes when needed. Overall, more than 95% of my clients show improvement in as early as three sessions.
I love to work with people who appreciate my holistic approach. My approach goes beyond talk therapy, we can take a look at your lifestyle to identify areas that may be impacting your mental health, such as sleep, exercise, nutrition etc. Clients who value this approach have better chances of success working with me. I’m an LGBTQ+ ally and I am culturally sensitive, having lived and traveled overseas extensively, I have a very global view of humanity that fosters inclusion and respect for all cultures and religions. I am very familiar with religious practices in the main monotheistic religions and I can work within the context of your faith. I am also familiar with spiritual abuse which is an area that I have been working on for a few years now.
CBT is an evidence based approach to therapy, I use a psycho educational component as well as skills to practice in between sessions. I monitor improvement progressively through weekly assessments.
Primarily focused on coping skills for emotion regulation and interpersonal relationships.
Using one of four columns of wellness, spirituality, we will focus on finding balance and harmony within the context of the client’s personal faith.
Using proven method of diverse models I work to clear communication pathways between couples and to build stronger connections.
