When being seen and heard has felt like an impossibility and you’re ready to be who you know you’re meant to be, I’m here to help. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and have been a counselor for over 20 years. I believe in partnering with my clients to identify barriers that are keeping them from their goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

It can be so scary to imagine meeting a therapist for the first time and pouring out the deepest struggles you have faced. It can be intimidating to imagine what you’re “supposed” to talk about. Rest assured, our first session will be entirely about your comfort. No need to prepare notes about what to talk about! I will guide you through the session by asking questions that allow me to understand the unique challenges you have faced and to develop a plan together for how to overcome them.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I provide empathic support to each and every client I work with. Whether we are doing solution-focused brief counseling or deeper trauma work, you will experience unconditional positive regard and care along with evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

My treatment methods

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. EMDR therapy encourages the client to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation, which ultimately reduces the vividness and emotional experience associated with the trauma. Ongoing research supports positive outcomes , showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for anxiety, depression, chronic pain, OCD, and other distressing life experiences (Maxfield, 2019). EMDR is one of the most powerful treatment modalities that allows clients to experience very quick relief from old, painful beliefs and experiences. It is nothing short of a miracle to sit with a client and watch them heal before my eyes.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

As an IFS-informed therapist, I help clients begin the transformative work of identifying parts of their personalities that developed in response to early childhood environments. By doing so, clients can begin to access and heal their protective and wounded parts, clearing the way for a life lived authentically by their true Self. When clients gain insights about their “parts” and the burdens these parts aim to relieve them of, self-compassion and healing begin.

Attachment-based

As an attachment-based therapist, I believe that when people gain insight into their attachment style and the strengths and deficits that have arisen as a result, they can begin to move toward more secure relationships. For many of us, trust is a difficult concept due to early attachment wounds. But healing is possible through the lens of attachment theory and talk therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, clients are equipped to see the relationship between their thoughts and beliefs and the resulting emotional experiences and behavioral outcomes. By beginning to identify patterns of thinking that do not serve the client’s goals, true transformation can occur. Combined with empathic talk therapy, CBT is an evidence based intervention that leads to solutions to current problems rather than dwelling on the past.
