I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 17 years of clinical experience. I work from a systems lens, focusing on behaviors and patterns, and using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy principles to help my clients achieve the life they want. I've worked with all age groups, spanning different areas of need: grief and loss, life transitions, pre-marital counseling, and self-improvement. However, the clients that I work most with are those that feel stuck in their current situation - work, life, relationship - and are looking to (re)discover who they are/what they want or simply looking for ways to slow down to (re)charge themselves and (re)define what's most important to them. I am currently offering individual therapy, virtually for residents of the state of California and in person for residents in San Diego, CA. I offer 15-minute consultations free of charge to ensure we are a good fit for one another. It is important to me that you feel comfortable as embark on this personal journey of self-discovery and change.
During our first session, we will go over "informed consent" including therapy process, my theory of therapy, your role as the client and my role as the therapist, and what you can expect during the course of our time together. We will also begin the intake/assessment process and set goals if we have time.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is most important to our work together. I provide a safe place and non-judgmental space for you to work through your process. We go as fast or as slow are you ready. While I work with all clients and am LBGTQI+ affirming, most of my clients tend to be of Asian descent.
The ideal client would be motivated to "work" outside of session in order to put skills learned to practice.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to provide psychoeducation on our thinking process, how we change, and anchor interventions to these principles.
