Hello, my name is Isabelle Cantave, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Florida. Originally from Haiti, I am fluent in both English and Kreyol, which allows me to connect with and support a diverse range of clients. I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2018, and I have spent the past seven years helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve meaningful personal growth. My passion lies in empowering clients to uncover the best versions of themselves, find purpose in their experiences, and build healthier, more fulfilling lives
In our first session, we will begin with brief introductions and discuss the expectations from both the client and therapist. We will then explore the specific challenges the client is currently facing, and collaboratively develop a plan aimed at achieving measurable progress. This approach ensures that both the client and therapist are aligned and working together towards meaningful outcomes.
With seven years of experience in the field as a Black professional, I have come to deeply understand the significance of creating a non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe and supported in expressing themselves. I have developed a strong ability to identify the root causes of challenges while recognizing the importance of culture, racial issues, and women’s issues in shaping a client’s experiences. This awareness allows me to approach each client with sensitivity and respect, tailoring my approach to address their unique needs and fostering an inclusive therapeutic space.
I have a strong passion for working with both young adults and older adults who are committed to personal growth but may feel lacking in the tools and strategies necessary to achieve their goals. Whether it’s improving professionally, spiritually, or in their relationships, I enjoy helping clients develop the skills, insight, and confidence they need to turn their aspirations into reality.
I use narrative therapy to help clients reframe their stories. It focuses on viewing problems as separate from the person. We explore their experiences, identify patterns, and rewrite their narratives. This empowers clients to take control and create positive change. I help them see themselves as capable, resourceful, and resilient through their own story.
In solution-focused therapy, I help clients focus on their strengths and resources. We set clear, achievable goals and explore past successes. I encourage clients to identify solutions, not just problems. We use scaling questions to measure progress and highlight small wins. This approach empowers clients to take action and move forward.
In CBT, I help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns. We work together to change unhelpful beliefs and behaviors. I use practical techniques like cognitive restructuring and mindfulness. Clients learn to reframe their thoughts and improve emotional responses. This empowers them to cope better and reduce distress
In culturally sensitive therapy, I respect and incorporate clients' cultural backgrounds. I listen to their unique experiences and challenges. We explore how culture influences their identity and worldview. I adapt interventions to be culturally relevant and affirming. This approach helps clients feel understood and supported in their cultural context
In family therapy, I work with families to improve communication and resolve conflicts. I help family members understand each other's perspectives. We explore dynamics and patterns that affect relationships. I guide them to develop healthier ways of interacting. This strengthens family bonds and promotes mutual support.
