I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Bachelor's in Psychology from University of Texas at Austin and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Houston. I have experience with a variety of populations including those struggling with trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, reintegration after serving long prison sentences, self-esteem, life changes, relationships, family discord, family structures, and individuals struggling with chronic health issues, specifically Cystic Fibrosis.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will introduce ourselves and get to know each other as people. This will strengthen our base and our human connection. Therapy is meant to be collaborative. We will explore what brought you to therapy and what goals you have for the space we will share. Sometimes, I am meeting someone who has experience with therapy. Other times, it can feel highly emotional to step into a space that is made for emotional processing for the first time. We will approach the first session in a manner that is catered to you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a strengths based mental health professional. I will see strengths in you immediately. We will remember your wins and connect them to everything that we do. We will remember your losses and connect them, as well. I am told that my presence in a therapeutic space is validating, positive, and calm.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Dear reader, First, I would like to acknowledge that you are here. It's not easy to search for therapists. "Who are these people? What do I need? What can they give me?" But here you are. Clicking through these therapists is one example of you choosing you. And I am so proud of you! Throughout our time together, I will be here to remind you of your power and support you. What you bring into the room is a lifetime of experiences and a mind of mystery. I am armed with my education, humanity, love of mental health, and belief that people can overcome massive obstacles. With that, we have everything we need to venture forth. The next step is to choose one or do a quick consultation. I know it can feel scary, but I believe in you. Whether it's me or someone else, you are so close. Give me a call and let's talk and see if we are a fit. I'll be gentle, I promise.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is a great tool that allows you to learn about what you value and use that information to move through life's obstacles and challenges. I will be there to educate, explore, and motivate you along the way.

Attachment-based

Our history of relationships with caregivers and partners reflects our attachment styles and how we approach new and existing relationships. Exploring attachment styles and connecting behaviors could allow space for relationships to become healthier.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a classic. CBT is a concept that allows us to handle thoughts and change our behaviors in a working manner. CBT treats anxiety, minimizes depression, and maximizes self-awareness.

Trauma Informed Care

I specialize with individuals who have endured trauma. We will venture into the past at your pace if we venture at all. How I can support individuals through the effects of trauma is vastly different for each person. With your permission, we can be thoughtful and smart as we move through the healing process that follows traumatic experiences. Together.
