About me

Hello. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who completed graduate work at Syracuse University and have been practicing for over 30 years, the last 8 being in Florida. I enjoy teaching (and practicing) coping skills for stress, anxiety and depression. Everyone's journey is different and I see myself as respectfully accompanying them on their own journey, reflecting on experiences along the way.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

At the first meeting, one can expect a short time getting acquainted followed by a discussion about how I can be of help. Then we will discuss an individualized plan to more forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Experience is one of my greatest strengths as a provider. I am very skilled at engagement and providing full focused attention on my clients. I love people and they have provided positive feedback to me about my engagement and encouragement.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with people who are looking for help with life changes, sometimes brought on with intention and sometimes change that comes along unexpectedly. In addition to private practice, I have enjoyed my medical social work experience, helping people dealing with loss, chronic illness and caregiving.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I find this approach to therapy most helpful, as it helps with individuals understanding the dynamics of their own thoughts, feelings and behaviors and helps them develop the skills they can put to use in their daily life.

Eclectic

I prefer an organic approach based on the issues that arise, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a base, incorporating other models such as systems theory and empowerment, insight.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

This is a method I use to help individuals quiet their mind and body. I teach mindfulness as a skill as well as take individuals through mindfulness exercises. I find this useful in taking charge of experiences like anxiety that feels so out of control.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I have experience cross racially as well as in Central America. I also consider religious upbringing and practice/affiliation as contributing to culture.

Grief Therapy

I have extensive experience assisting individuals with grief and loss from pregnancy and infant loss, partner loss as well as grief associated with chronic illness diagnosis, caregiving and other types of loss.
