Hello, Welcome! My name is Amberly Martinez, You have taken the first step in seeking change and growth. Allow yourself to schedule a session with me and determine if you feel safe and comfortable with me as your provider. Children, adolescents, and adults are always looking for individuals whom they can connect with and learn from; which I find fairly easy to build rapport with through openness, transparency, and client-centered approaches where you will feel in charge of your therapy. Whether you are struggling with overcoming your feelings of anxiety and prolonged sadness; I am here to listen and help you achieve your goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, understanding structure of therapy, review assessment scores, and YOU as the client will get to interview me YOUR therapist to determine if I am a great fit for your needs and what you expect out of a therapist. This will help US create rapport which will later allow for the creation of a tailored therapeutic plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions with interventions modified to fit your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel like in the past six years as a mental health provider I have the ability to connect with my clients and offer an empathetic and safe space for them to express their challenges; due to my younger age and clients being able to relate and connect easier than with other mental health providers.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with children, adolescents, and young adults ages 8-30 through telehealth platform whom are looking for a provider that will be empathetic, caring, and understanding in guiding them through the challenges of therapy. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious about their life and family relationships which is often discussed and dealt with in therapy.

My treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is used to help children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, address trauma-related symptoms, and improve their overall well-being through a combination of cognitive and behavioral techniques. In my practice I have helped many children and adolescents take manage nightmares, difficulty sleeping, nervousness, being easily startled, intrusive thoughts, and irritability. I also address anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, and difficulties with emotional regulation resulting from adverse childhood experiences or situational life challenges.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy, based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), that helps individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and reduce self-harm behaviors. The focus is teaching you four core skills; Mindfulness: Paying attention to the present moment without judgment. Distress Tolerance: Learning to cope with difficult emotions and situations without resorting to self-harm or other maladaptive behaviors. Emotion Regulation: Understanding and managing emotions effectively. Interpersonal Effectiveness: Improving communication and relationship skills.
