About me

My background is fairly diverse. I work in Mass now and enjoy working with all my clients. I take the work very seriously but also believe that humor has a place in therapy and in life. I have also worked in the country of Belize which has expanded my perspective on principles of behavior and cultural differences. I see the work as being a team effort so it includes exploration and strategizing together I am quite active and think of exercise and having fun as part of the process as well as self care.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

People can expect open mind and communication. I will ask some question regarding basic information and we will have a conversation. I might take a few notes but will ask permission first.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I would love to have clients speak with me about what their experiences have been. I use multiple approaches depending on what the client and I decide will work. I am an open and caring person and can reach back through experiences using different modalities. I have good sense of humor about life while being able to sit and empathize with a persons pain.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I do not have dream client. My job is to meet the client where they are and share the experience of moving forward. Sometimes people will start and say "I have no idea how this works but i have do something". We will learn together about what works, and what does not. It is hard work but i find that most people want to do it.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

SFBT is a strength based plan where the client and the therapist work together to look at the existing problem and develop possible solutions. They work together to find ways to reached preferred outcomes. Part of the work is exploring what has worked in the past and build on that as we also explore what has not worked.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT can be helpful in treating anxiety and depression. In general, it is part of a treatment plan if the client finds it useful

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling can be very difficult as people try to work out differences and repair old wounds. There can be homework assignments to practice new ways of communicating.

Interpersonal

Generally my approach is to use whatever treatment method will work best for the client within the therapeutic relationship. That include mind-body. attachment, grief, and any others . All these interventions need to be client focused and include both science and art as the basis of the decision on how to move forward. I use empathy, straightforwardness and humor in the work.
