Hi, I'm Jason! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience helping folks aged 18-80+ improve their quality of life by reducing distress associated with mental health symptoms including depression, anxiety, disrupted sleep, bipolar illness, and psychosis. My focus is always on my clients' needs, goals, and perspectives, and I seek to provide a space for individuals to find their own answers to the challenges they face. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and incorporate this work to help people identify unhelpful patterns in their thoughts, feelings, and actions and disrupt cycles that leave them feeling stuck. I also incorporate tools and resources from additional therapeutic interventions, including person-centered therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness to ensure my clients have the right tools to navigate the challenges they face. If you are looking for an opportunity to continue your journey of self discovery, reduce distress from mental health symptoms, or disrupt the cycles that leave you feeling "stuck," I am here when you're ready.
It has been strongly established that one of the most important factors contributing to positive outcomes in therapy is the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist. As such, my goal in our first session is to lay the groundwork for a meaningful therapeutic relationship with clients built on a foundation of mutual respect, trust, acceptance, and alliance. This includes learning why you decided to seek counseling and what makes you who you are. I seek to learn not only the challenges you face, but also the successes you've had, the things you like to do, and the important people in your life.
Much of my experience as a therapist has centered around individuals living with mental illness and psychosis. While this may not be what you're experiencing, many of the tools and skills proven useful for managing these mental health symptoms can be used by anyone to enhance their quality of life and ability to achieve change. I am particularly well equipped to help you recognize what is keeping you "stuck," and consider avenues for change. Given my passion and history working with individuals with psychiatric disabilities, I am also uniquely prepared to support individuals who love someone experiencing mental illness.
I am best positioned to serve adults of all ages seeking to achieve change in their quality of life and mental health, especially related to anxiety and mood. I strive to create and hold a safe environment for you to explore, identify, overcome obstacles to your personal definition of wellness.
