About me

Welcome! I’m a licensed therapist with 15 years of experience and a passion for walking alongside individuals on their journey toward healing and transformation. I’m licensed in Alabama, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Indiana, and Virginia, and I specialize in helping clients navigate trauma, stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, and self-esteem struggles through a Christian-centered approach. I offer a compassionate, integrative healing process that combines proven therapeutic modalities, including Brainspotting, CBT, and EMDR, with spiritual guidance rooted in faith. My approach honors your unique journey, focusing not just on emotional and mental healing but also on spiritual and relational growth. Together, we’ll work to release past hurts, restore emotional balance, and renew your sense of purpose and connection. I believe you are the expert of your own story. My role is to walk beside you, offering the tools, support, and encouragement you need to heal and grow—spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. It takes courage to seek out healing, and I’m here to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore, heal, and embrace the fullness of who you are in Christ.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Sometimes our thoughts become the loudest voices in the room—telling us we’re not enough, that we’re stuck, or that things will never change. CBT helps us take a closer look at those thoughts and gently ask, Is this true? Is this helpful? Is this from God? CBT is a practical, evidence-based approach that explores the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we uncover the patterns that may be holding you back—whether it’s self-doubt, fear, or shame—and begin replacing them with truth, grace, and new ways of thinking. In my practice, I use CBT through a faith-based lens. This means we don’t just reframe thoughts—we align them with what God says about you. Romans 12:2 reminds us to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” CBT gives us tools to do just that—to interrupt cycles of anxiety, depression, and trauma with intentional, Spirit-led change.

Christian Counseling

Life can break us in places we never expected. But as believers, we know that even in our brokenness, God is near. Christian counseling creates space for you to explore the hard, hidden, and hurting parts of your story while staying grounded in faith. In this space, healing isn’t just clinical—it’s sacred. Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, or identity struggles, I offer a counseling approach that integrates sound psychological practice with biblical truth. We walk through your healing with prayer, scripture, and Spirit-led reflection woven into the process—always honoring your pace and your personal relationship with God.

EMDR

Sometimes we carry pain we didn’t ask for—memories that replay, emotions that feel too big, and moments that seem stuck in time. EMDR is a powerful therapy that helps the brain do what God created it to do: heal. It’s a process that uses gentle bilateral stimulation—often through eye movements or tapping—to help your mind and body reprocess painful memories so they no longer hold power over your present. I like to think of EMDR as soul work. It honors the truth that healing is already inside of you—it just needs space, safety, and sacred attention to rise. In sessions, I walk alongside you as we gently bring light into the darker places of your story. We don’t relive the trauma—we release it. And when you’re ready, we begin to replace those old, painful beliefs with truth, peace, and restoration.

Brainspotting

There are moments in life when pain buries itself so deep in our bodies that we don’t even realize we’re carrying it. Words may fail, but our nervous system remembers. Brainspotting is a healing approach that gently helps uncover those hidden wounds—using the connection between the brain, body, and soul. By focusing on specific eye positions that link to unprocessed emotions, we give the body space to release what it’s been holding onto—sometimes for a long time.

I appreciate Donnetta's approach and allowing a safe space to unpack my issues. I didn't feel intimidated. Our first session caused me to really think about my life and how I show up for others. I am looking forward to continuing this journey of healing from the inside out. I feel that her approach will help with long and short term goals and better decision making. Therapy has been something that I've avoided for years and after this first session with Donnetta, I made the right decision.

Exceptional provide with solution oriented treatment plans. She's warm, empathetic, and genuine. I appreciate that she meets me where I'm at in any given session; we'll either work through subjects previously discussed or navigate through present situations. She respectfully helps me identify triggers and offers helpful guidance with processing them. I highly recommend her to anyone who's self-aware but experiencing difficulty with change.
