Hello there! My name is Mayra Vargas, and I am located in St. Lucie County, Florida. I received my Master's degree from the University of Texas A&M-Commerce and have been practicing for over five years. My focus during sessions is to create a space where you feel comfortable and supported, especially when you're dealing with things that might feel unclear or overwhelming. I'm here to listen with compassion, add a little humor and positivity when needed, and offer the respect you deserve. My goal is to support you in finding the direction you want to go, and I'm excited to walk with you on this journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
During our initial session, we will start by introducing ourselves briefly. You will receive some basic information regarding what to expect in the upcoming sessions. Additionally, I would like to hear your expectations and any difficulties you may be facing, so that we can work together to establish treatment goals.
As a first-generation immigrant, I bring a unique and empathetic perspective to the emotional and psychological challenges that come with life transitions. This personal experience, combined with my clinical training, has deepened my understanding of the complexities of living between two cultures and navigating life transitions. I know the importance of providing a safe and compassionate space for clients to explore their struggles, build resilience, and uncover their unique personal strengths that are ready to be used.
Becoming an adult is exciting, but it also brings challenges that can sometimes feel difficult to untangle. I enjoy working with young adults and individuals going through life transitions, such as migrating to a new country, adjusting to a new culture, raising teenagers, living independently, or recently retiring. Whether these transitions involve a brief adjustment, processing past trauma, or managing symptoms of anxiety or depression, I am here to support you through this journey.
I have discovered that the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are practical and useful for my clients in their quest to identify the root cause of their problems. I strongly believe that learning the source of uncomfortable emotions associated with anxiety and stress helps to build confidence and enables individuals to confront their problems head-on rather than avoiding them.
My clients' unique qualities and talents are their greatest resource. I accompany them through their journey of embracing and valuing their individuality.
I believe that understanding the connection between our mind and body can help individuals manage the discomfort that comes with stress and anxiety.
