Hello and welcome! I have quite a bit of experience working in the mental health field and am committed to supporting my clients as they work to make change. In my over 20 years of experience, I've worked with clients from young children to older adults. I enjoy supporting clients through periods of transition such as young adulthood, middle-age, and retirement. I also assist clients who are dealing with serious health issues as they navigate their way through what can be a scary and life-altering event. My areas of specialty include CBT for anxiety and mood disorders, solution-focused therapy, and the use of somatic therapies that support an holistic approach to wellness. I love and believe in the healing power of nature.
Our first session will focus on obtaining background information, time talking about your current concerns, as well as your expectations for therapy. I'm most interested in ensuring that I have a good understanding of your desired outcomes and what improvements you are hoping to gain from therapy. This will help us both know if our future therapy sessions are of benefit to you.
My strengths as a therapist lie in my abilities to establish a trusting, empathetic relationship while listening non-judgmentally to your experiences and concerns. I also feel that my experience working with clients of all ages on a variety of issues and with multiple modalities are strengths.
If you are dealing with a major life transition, struggling to find the next step, or dealing with a life-altering health diagnosis, I would love the opportunity to support you through the process. I enjoy working with clients who are open to reflection, appreciate the benefits of humor in every day life, and who are interested in personal growth as they move toward a greater sense of self-fulfillment.
I have over 20 years of experience working with clients on a variety of concerns ranging from grief and anxiety to navigating major life transitions. I've found that in many cases, my clients have appreciated the implementation of a Solution-Focused treatment plan because it's in an efficient and effective way to address specific areas of difficulty.
For individuals who are struggling to manage symptoms of anxiety or a mood disorder, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the modality that I feel offers the most effective results. I've worked with clients using CBT for over 15 years. CBT helps us learn to recognize the interactions between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and requires a strong commitment and partnership between the therapist and client. I strive to support clients as they do the hard work of changing patterns of thought in an effort to improve their mental well being.
