LPC, 6 years of experience
New to Grow
My name is John Kowite, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona. I have over six years of experience supporting clients with anxiety, ADHD, autism, addiction and dual diagnosis, with specialized training working with couples and neurodiverse clients. I strive to create a nonjudgmental space, incorporating mindfulness and creative expression in my work with clients, to help them name and acknowledge their feelings and experiences, heal, and feel better.
For our first session, I work to create a welcoming and supportive space designed to help clients feel safe, heard, and understood. It typically begins with introductions, where I explain my role and approach, ensuring clients know this is a judgment-free environment focused solely on their well-being. The session is an opportunity for clients to share what brings them to therapy, their hopes for counseling, and any concerns they might have. Rather than diving immediately into heavy topics, the first session often feels like an open conversation. I will gently guide the discussion to learn more about the client’s background, lifestyle, and goals. Clients are encouraged to take their time and share as much or as little as they feel comfortable with—there’s no pressure or rush. I always emphasize collaboration, assuring clients that therapy is a partnership tailored to their unique needs. By the end, clients usually have a clearer understanding of how therapy will proceed and what next steps look like, leaving them feeling supported and optimistic about the process ahead.
I specialize in evidence-based methods to support clients struggling with anxiety, ADHD, addiction, and relationship challenges. Using tailored techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and coaching strategies, I help clients gain clarity, develop coping skills, and restore balance in their lives. For couples, I focus on improving communication and fostering deeper connection through proven relational approaches. My goal is to deliver measurable progress that empowers clients to overcome obstacles and build healthier, more fulfilling lives.
