Welcome! My name is Dawn, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) located in Pennsylvania. I received my graduate degree in clinical counseling psychology from Eastern University in 2010, but I have worked in the social services field for over 23 years. My early career centered around children and youth, from directing a community youth delinquency program in Philadelphia, to providing direct therapeutic services to adolescents within residential treatment facilities. In the last 15 years I've worked primarily with the adult population in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient treatment sites, hospital and community based mental health facilities, within Universities as well as in group private practice. I truly place a high value on the establishment of the therapeutic alliance, and view the treatment process as a working collaborative relationship based on mutual respect, positive regard, and a shared goal of client empowerment to create life altering change. Let's work together!
In our first meeting, we will begin with a brief introduction, review of the completed intake material and assess goodness of fit as the relationship has a significant influence on the outcome. We will then discuss what brought you to therapy, explore pertinent past experiences, and begin developing our personalized plan to guide the treatment process.
I focus on creating a safe and supportive environment that harnesses your strengths, empowering you to meet your desired personal goals. Through genuineness, compassion and empathy, I make space for vulnerability, promoting true inner healing and interpersonal growth.
I am most comfortable working with adult clients ages 24 and up who are coming to therapy for the first time, those seeking to reengage in therapeutic work they had previously explored or those embarking on journeys in uncharted territory and in need of support.
I use a holistic, client-centered, eclectic approach that incorporates components of mindfulness, CBT, TF-CBT, MI, neuropsychological knowledge, and other evidence-based strategies, tailored to meet your unique personal concerns. My goal is to create an individualized, supportive and enriching environment for you that provides growth opportunities, lends space for corrective experiences, and promotes true inner healing and personal empowerment. I specialize in treating adult clients addressing concerns with mild depression, anxiety disorders, stress management, grief/loss, trauma exposure, self-esteem, racial/cultural identity, social/relationship issues, and individuals seeking to explore Christian/faith based counseling services.
