Hello and welcome. I am an LCSW who has 28 years of experience providing therapy to a wide array of clients. I enjoy meeting clients where they are at and helping them to discuss their issues, look at obstacles to making changes, make expectations that are more realistic, and helping them to learn new skills to decrease the negative effects on their life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You can expect a brief introduction from me and I will ask you to introduce yourself. I will take a complete history and then help you to look at specifically what you would like to work on. This will allow us to provide a partnership where you can learn new skills to help you to deal with the difficulties and challenges that you have so they have fewer negative effects on your life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I enjoy meeting people where they are at, building on the strengths that they possess, helping them to look at what they do either intentionally or unintentionally, and learn ways to enhance skills that they already have or lean new ones so that the difficulties and challenges do not have s many negative effects on their life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with clients who have difficulties with anxiety & depression and are unsure what they can do differently so that these issues do not have the negative effects on their life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use evidence based CBT that teaches people with depression and anxiety to catch, check, and change negatives, make expectations that are more realistic, look at core beliefs and how they contribute to negatives, and find something to look forward to each week.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress and help to create a more balanced life. I assist patients in learning this and ways to apply the 7 main principles.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of talking therapy. It's based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). But it's specially adapted for people who feel emotions very intensely. The aim of DBT is to help you: Understand and accept your difficult feelings. I teach specific techniques that make it easier to deal with intense emotions.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP therapy is a behavioral therapy that gradually exposes people to situations designed to provoke a person's obsessions in a safe environment. ERP directly addresses the cycle of obsessions and compulsions through gradual exposure and response prevention techniques.
