LICSW, 8 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi! I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping individuals find resilience, hope, and emotional balance during life's most challenging times. At the heart of my practice is the belief that therapy is a collaborative process rooted in empathy, authenticity, and respect. Life's challenges-whether brought on by illness, aging, loss, trauma, family distress, or change-can be overwhelming, but they also offer opportunities for growth. Through a supportive and integrative therapeutic approach, I help individuals build coping strategies, improve relationships, and create lasting positive change. I aim to empower individuals to reconnect with their strengths, deepen their self-understanding, and move forward with clarity and confidence. I spent the first 8 years of my career working at the Department of Veterans Affairs working in an acute hospital setting helping individuals deal with acute and chronic illnesses, aging, trauma and life transitions. I also have extensive experience working with caregivers and families dealing with difficult transitions, grief and caregiver burnout. I look forward to meeting you and helping you grow and create positive change in your life.
We'll begin with introductions and review your intake paperwork together. You can ask any questions at any point-about therapy, the process, or my approach. My goal is to ensure you feel informed, comfortable, and empowered as we begin this journey together. The main focus of our first session will be you-your story, your current concerns, and what you'd like to gain from therapy. Together, we'll begin to identify your goals and discuss what's most important for you to focus on. You are welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
My strengths as a therapist lie in creating a compassionate, supportive space where clients feel truly heard and understood. I bring a direct and genuine approach, offering honest feedback delivered with empathy and respect. Clients often describe my style as both grounding and encouraging. With a background in medical social work, geriatrics, grief counseling, life transitions, trauma and the Veteran population, I combine insight and practicality to address complex life situations. My authenticity and steady presence foster trust, growth and resilience in the therapeutic relationship.
My ideal client is someone ready to make meaningful changes, even if they're unsure where to begin. Many of the people I work with are coping with depression, anxiety, depression, grief, health challenges, trauma, or major life transitions and want to feel more balanced and confident. I work best with individuals who value a direct yet compassionate approach- someone who appreciates honest feedback, collaboration, and practical strategies for creating lasting change. Together, we focus on improving coping skills, strengthening resilience, deepening self-awareness, and moving toward a life that feels more manageable, meaningful, and fulfilling.
I utilize integrative therapy with all my clients as every client is unique and requires a unique individualized approach. Integrative therapy is a flexible, personalized approach that combines techniques from multiple therapeutic methods to meet each client's unique needs. It blends evidence-based strategies with a supportive and client-centered approach, addressing emotional, cognitive, and relational challenges.
Supportive therapy provides emotional support and guidance in a safe, nonjudgmental space. It help's clients explore their feelings, navigate life's challenges, and develop practical coping strategies. I tailor this approach to each individuals needs.
As a medical social worker, I have utilized grief therapy in many different situations to help individuals cope with and process loss, navigate complex emotions, and find ways to adapt to life after a significant change. Grief therapy can help individuals understand and express their feelings, cope with sadness or guilt, and rebuild a sense of meaning and connection. In utilizing grief therapy, I tailor the therapy to each individuals experience, offer guidance, validation, and practical strategies to promote healing and resilience.
This is a goal-oriented approach that emphasizes identifying solutions and building on an individuals' existing strengths and resources. Rather than focusing extensively on past problems, it helps clients clarify goals, recognize progress, and develop practical strategies to create meaningful change. This therapy is based on the belief that all individuals have the inherent ability to create positive change. This therapy has proven very useful for my clients coping with stress, anxiety and depression, relationship problems, and trauma.
I have extensive experience in providing trauma informed care through my 8 years in a hospital setting working with veterans who have complex trauma histories. I recognize the long-term effects of trauma on individuals' lives and I use that knowledge to create a safe and empowering space. I understand the impact that trauma has on the whole person.
