I am passionate about helping individuals and couples experience meaningful growth, healing, and lasting change. I believe mental health care should be accessible, free from stigma, and viewed as a normal part of living a healthy, balanced life. My therapeutic approach is compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I strive to create a safe environment where clients feel understood while also being thoughtfully challenged to examine unhelpful patterns, develop new perspectives, and build practical skills for lasting change. I believe that empathy, authenticity, and, when appropriate, humor can foster deeper connection and meaningful therapeutic progress. As a U.S. Army veteran, I bring extensive experience working with individuals and couples navigating stress, trauma, addiction, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas in Denton and my Ph.D. in Psychology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor–Supervisor (LPC-S) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). My areas of specialization include anger management, substance use and behavioral addictions, anxiety, depression, emotional suppression, compulsive sexual behaviors, and recovery. I also enjoy working with couples to strengthen emotional connection, improve communication, rebuild trust, resolve conflict, and cultivate greater intimacy.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and it's normal to have questions or feel a little nervous. My goal is to provide a welcoming, supportive environment where you feel comfortable, respected, and heard. During our first session, we'll discuss what brings you to counseling, your current concerns, relevant personal history, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. This helps me understand your unique experiences while giving you the opportunity to ask questions and determine whether we're a good fit. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. Together, we'll identify your goals, explore patterns that may be contributing to your challenges, and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. There is no expectation that you share everything during the first session—we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Whether you're seeking help with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship concerns, anger, or a major life transition, I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward growth, healing, and lasting change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Gregg’s greatest strength lies in the depth of his education and clinical experience. His goal is to create a supportive, compassionate, and encouraging environment where clients feel understood and empowered to pursue meaningful growth and change. Gregg’s therapeutic approach is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and practical. He believes meaningful change occurs when clients feel both supported and appropriately challenged. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, he tailors treatment to each client’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. Drawing from evidence-based practices, Gregg helps clients increase self-awareness, strengthen emotional regulation, develop healthier coping strategies, and improve relationships. He also believes that appropriate humor, when used thoughtfully, can strengthen the therapeutic relationship and make difficult conversations feel more approachable.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Gregg incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. His approach focuses on identifying unhelpful thinking patterns, developing healthier perspectives, and building practical skills to create meaningful change. Through a collaborative and supportive process, Gregg helps clients increase self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, and develop more effective coping strategies. He tailors CBT interventions to each client’s unique needs, goals, and personal experiences while emphasizing growth, resilience, and lasting behavioral change.

Sex Therapy

Gregg provides sex therapy in a respectful, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment where individuals and couples can openly discuss concerns that are often difficult to address. As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, he has advanced specialized training in addressing sexual concerns through compassionate, client-centered care. Gregg works with clients experiencing challenges such as differences in sexual desire, sexual functioning concerns, intimacy challenges, compulsive sexual behaviors, pornography-related concerns, infidelity recovery, and sexual shame. He recognizes that sexual concerns often involve emotional, relational, psychological, and individual factors, and he takes a comprehensive approach to helping clients understand and address these challenges. Gregg is also the author of a booklet on Sensate Focus, a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals and couples reduce pressure, improve communication, increase body awareness, and strengthen emotional and physical intimacy. His goal is to help clients improve communication, deepen emotional and sexual connection, develop healthier patterns of sexual expression, and build relationships that are more fulfilling and meaningful. Whether working with individuals or couples, Gregg creates a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore sensitive topics and work toward lasting growth and connection.

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling helps partners improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, and navigate relationship challenges with greater understanding and confidence. Gregg's approach is grounded in the Gottman Method, an evidence-based model that helps couples build trust, manage conflict effectively, deepen friendship, and create lasting intimacy. In couples therapy, the relationship itself is the client. Gregg tailors each session to the unique dynamics of the relationship, helping couples identify unhealthy patterns and develop practical skills that foster lasting change. He has advanced training in Marriage and Family Counseling, holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from SMU–Dallas, and is Gottman Method–trained. Gregg works with couples facing challenges such as communication difficulties, recurring conflict, infidelity, sexual concerns, and pornography addiction. His approach is compassionate, collaborative, and practical, combining evidence-based interventions with empathy and, when appropriate, humor to help couples reconnect, rebuild trust, and strengthen their relationship.

Gottman method

I love being a mental health therapist and am especially passionate about couples counseling using the Gottman Method. This evidence-based approach helps couples build stronger connections by improving communication, managing conflict, and maintaining fondness and admiration for each other. I work with couples facing challenges such as chronic conflict, infidelity, emotional distance, or difficulties around parenting, money, or sex. In sessions, I focus on patterns of interaction and help partners develop practical skills to strengthen their relationship. I also provide Gottman book recommendations and exercises to support growth outside of therapy, so positive change continues beyond our time together.

Motivational Interviewing

Gregg uses Motivational Interviewing with clients experiencing behavioral addictions, including substance use concerns and pornography compulsivity, to help them explore the impact of their behaviors and identify their personal reasons for change. Rather than focusing on confrontation or judgment, he helps clients examine patterns, recognize discrepancies between current behaviors and personal values, and strengthen their motivation for recovery. Through empathy, collaboration, and goal-focused conversations, Gregg supports clients in developing healthier coping strategies, increasing accountability, and building confidence in their ability to create lasting change.
