Hello and Welcome! My name is David Gonzalez and I am a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’ve been in the mental health field since 2013. In the last 12 years I've had the privilege to work with children, adolescents and adults across various professional settings. My modalities of choice are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focus Brief Therapy. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety or adjusting to new life stressors, together we will develop a great treatment plan and get you to your desired goals. We will work from a holistic perspective (mind, body and spirit) and address your individualized needs. With my clinical training and your insight, I am sure we will do great work! So congrats on making it this far and for having the courage to take the first steps in your mental health journey. Let’s get to work!
In our initial session together we will focus on building rapport and assuring that you feel I am a good fit to help you on your mental health journey. We will start with introductions, we will gather information and review intake documentation, we will discuss legal and ethical obligations (HIPPA, mandated reporting etc.), we will go over your major areas of concerns and we will complete an intake/ treatment plan tailored towards your desired outcomes.
My strengths lie in working with mild to moderate anxiety and depression, assisting parents with parenting skills, assisting families with conflict resolution, assisting individuals/families with life adjustment struggles, and working with LGBTQIA individuals /families (e.g. coming out, bullying, transitioning etc.).
I have experience working with individuals of all ages and demographics and can offer services in Spanish. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to explore the roots of their stressors and are willing to learn and work towards their identified goals. My specialities include: depression, anxiety, family conflict, foster care/adoptions, family therapy, life transitions, men's issues, school issues, parenting, self esteem, trauma/PTSD, and LGBTQIA.
CBT is is an apporach that helps individuals manage problems by changing the way they think and behave. My goal through this approach is to help you identify and challenge negative or inaccurate thoughts you may have and teach you how to replace them with more helpful ones. This approach will help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected, and how you can make changes.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is a goal-oriented approach that focuses on solutions rather than the problems. My goal through this approach is to focus on your strengths and resources, rather than your past struggles and to help you develop strategies for resolving your current issues.
