My name is Kristina Howard and I am an experienced therapist. I received my Masters in Social Work from Adelphi University in 2010. Since graduating, I have worked in the field of community mental health (Care Manager, Day Treatment as a therapist and Director, Helpline Counselor, Geriatric Psychotherapist and Hospital Social Work Case Manager) Recently, I shifted focus to include Maternal Mental Health and Health & Wellness Coaching to support women during the Perinatal phase of life.
Our first session will focus on getting to know each other and sharing brief history, your wants and needs. Over time, we will work together to build a "toolkit" of helpful strategies to manage symptoms, stress, emotions, behaviors, relationships and life transitions. There is light at the end of the tunnel and you don’t have to get there by yourself.
I use a person centered, strengths-based approach to build a true partnership with clients. I provide a safe, nurturing, compassionate and judgement free space fostering growth and healing. I am here to listen, support, encourage and teach.
If you are having difficulty adjusting, feeling depressed, anxious or lonely, I am here to provide support and walk with you through your journey.
We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
