Greetings! My name is Jamie Cole and I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C). I pursued my graduate education at the University of Maryland Baltimore, where I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, specializing in families and children. With over six years of experience in practice, I have had the privilege of serving both neurotypical and neurodivergent populations from diverse backgrounds, including underserved communities. My primary objective as a therapist is to deliver compassionate care that empowers clients to achieve their goals and reach their highest potential.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the initial session, my primary objective will be to gather comprehensive information about you, including the specific challenges or concerns you are facing. This allows me to understand which therapeutic approaches may resonate most effectively within our sessions and enable your treatment plan to be tailored to best meet your needs as we move forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Throughout the treatment process, I intentionally create a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel free to express themselves openly, without judgment, and where they are genuinely listened to and can be understood. As an inherently optimistic provider, I believe that with the appropriate supports and efforts in place, anything can be achieved in life. My role as a provider, is to serve as that vital support or bridge for all clients to reach their goals and obtain an overall greater sense of peace and stability.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have provided therapeutic services to individuals ranging in age from five to over 65. Currently, I primarily work with adolescents, young adults, and parents/caregivers who are navigating a variety of life stressors. These may include challenges related to social or family relationships, academic or occupational pressures, systemic injustices, a lack of self-awareness or purpose, and the responsibilities of caring for individuals with special needs. These experiences can often lead to feelings of overwhelmingness, isolation, or hopelessness and my goal is to support clients in identifying and building a clear, empowering path toward personal growth and success.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Understanding the intricate connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors is fundamental to the therapeutic process. Since the beginning of my practice, I have integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a core component of my approach. This method emphasizes the profound influence that our mind has on our overall well-being, highlighting the interconnectedness of our mental processes and emotional responses.

Supportive

I believe that during life’s most challenging moments, we all can greatly benefit from the genuine support of others. Therefore, I incorporate supportive therapy into my practice, providing clients with a safe and nurturing environment to express their hopes, needs, and desires. Through active listening, empathy, and encouragement, I strive to foster a space where clients feel heard, valued, understood and empowered.

Family Therapy

Family units encompass a diverse range of personalities, experiences, and aspirations. In my practice, I utilize family therapy to facilitate an environment where individuals can reflect on and express their own needs and desires. This approach equips families with the tools to understand and appreciate each other’s perspectives, fostering unity and resilience, even in challenging times.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

At times, we may recognize the challenges we face but still feel uncertain about the steps necessary to resolve them. In my practice, I integrate solution-focused therapy to help clients achieve the outcomes they desire. I find this approach especially effective for individuals who are ready and well-equipped to engage in the work, yet still benefit from ongoing support to stay focused and on track toward their goals.
