Welcome, and glad you are looking for someone to walk with you on your journey. I am an LPCC-S here in Ohio and have been working in the mental health and addiction worlds for almost a decade as a therapist, graduate professor, overdose first responder, and clinical researcher among other roles. During my travels through these and other experiences, I have been honored to develop along with my clients an expertise in an array of Narrative and Somatic practices, that when combined together we have found to often be helpful when navigating many of the ways that Pain shows up in our lives.
Our first meeting will very much be a time to share and ask each other questions in order to navigate the process of finding the best possible fit forward either in therapy with me or as a platform for other supportive referrals. I have worked in the therapy world for some time and trainen/taught many therapists so if I am not the right fit, I usually have a direct referral to offer and I am happy to play that part in the journey!
The consistent feedback that I have received from my clients is that our ability to generate the therapeutic relationship is one the most impactful component of our work together and as one side of that equation they have found me to be unfailingly patient and kind. Through this relationship we generate new stories that will have meaning hopefully for much longer than the therapy relationship lasts.
I work with an extremely wide range of adult clients, from career counseling during inflection points in someone's work and personal life, through severe addictions, developmental traumas, and persistent mental health concerns. Clients who have felt that their problems have been intractable in other therapy settings often seek out my services.
Having utilized and trained therapists in Narrative Therapy for years, I can attest to its trauma-informed and flexible nature. Briefly, we will utilize Narrative Therapy to explore your stories of the past, present, and future to generate your preferred life and self. A core tenant of Narrative work is that you are not a/the problem, the problem is the problem, and you will find that this gives us the space needed to construct a new path forward in your recovery.
