Hi there, my name is Katie Guerrero and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the western suburbs of Chicago. I have 13 years of experience as a clinical social worker and I was previously an elementary school teacher. I have worked with ages 3-63 in home, school, community, and clinical settings, and I look forward to continuing to grow my practice here. I use a variety of treatment methods depending on each clients' needs, including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, play therapy, mindfulness, Social thinking, Solution-Focused therapy, etc. My goal is make you feel comfortable so we can work together to find your happiness and fulfillment in healthy relationships, work, home, community, and educational settings.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session we will explore the presenting issue which brought you to therapy. Backgound information will be collected, and forms will be reviewed. We will also set goals for your therapy program. Any questions/ concerns you have will also be addressed.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths are compassion, empathy, and patience. The road to happiness is a journey and not a race. Taking the time to get there is what's most important. By looking inward I can assist you with finding your peace and joy in life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to address anxiety and depression by reframing anxious thoughts, helping individuals learn to self-soothe and realize their full potential by breaking through past trauma, intrusive thoughts, and specific fears/ phobias. This has included treatment for OCD, ADHD, ASD, Developmental Delays, substance abuse, behavior, and school/ learning challenges.
