I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Maryland, with 20 years of experience treating diverse populations and clinical concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, serious mental illness, and substance use. I've had the honor of working with military service members and veterans of all eras, including older adults who may need increased support to maintain their independence. Whatever life transition, challenge or adversity you are facing, I have the skills and compassion required to help you build resilience, discover your full potential and live the best version of your life. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, my primary goal is to get to know you better and understand the various aspects of your life. A comprehensive overview will help me gain insight into your values, beliefs, strengths and areas for improvement. During this session, we will discuss your goals for therapy and what you hope to achieve through our work together. By understanding your unique needs and aspirations, I will be able to present and determine the most suitable therapeutic modality to support your growth and well-being. You can expect a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where you are encouraged to share openly and honestly. This initial session sets the foundation for our therapeutic journey, allowing us to build a strong and collaborative partnership. I look forward to working with you and supporting you in your journey towards personal growth and fulfillment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As an empathic therapist, I excel in creating a safe and supportive environment for my clients. Keen listening and analytical skills allow me to understand and address my clients' unique challenges and concerns effectively and sustain them during their most vulnerable moments. Whether they are recovering from trauma, dealing with anxiety or depression, navigating unexpected life transitions, coping with grief and loss, or addressing substance use issues, I have a talent for helping clients to discover purpose and meaning in their experiences and find opportunities in adversity. Expertise in fostering a growth mindset empowers clients to overcome obstacles, embrace change, and realize their greatest potential. A strong commitment to my clients' well-being, an ability to connect deeply, support empathetically, and inspire transformation sets me apart in the therapeutic field.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with individuals who have a sense of commitment to their professions, families, and communities. They value personal growth and development and have a keen sense of empathy, and desire to connect deeply with others. Their conscientious nature drives them to be responsible and reliable in both their personal and professional lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) early on in my career and have continued to expand my expertise in this modality through various applications including trauma, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive related disorders and suicide prevention.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

First introduced to Acceptance Commitment Therapy as a group treatment modality for trauma recovery with veterans, I received additional training to apply ACT in the setting of individual therapy. It is one of the approaches I utilize in therapy, often in conjunction with other modalities.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)

I received training within the VA Health Care System to utilize CBT-SP (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention) with clients who were contemplating suicide. I have over 15 years of experience in working with individuals who are in crisis, considering suicide and may have engaged in suicidal behavior.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based, structured treatment protocol for PTSD and other trauma related disorders. I have experience utilizing this approach with civilians and military service members.

Collaborative Management and Assessment of Suicidality (CAMS)

I administer the CAMS (Collaborative Management and Assessment of Suicidality) in my current full-time practice setting, when clients indicate prior to their session that they are experiencing thoughts harming themselves or others. We utilize the CAMs as an additional tool to explore and manage suicidal thoughts, plan for safety and identify targets for treatment.
