I am a Licensed Psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatments, telehealth, artist support, multicultural inclusion & liberation, LGBTQ issues, substance use, trauma recovery, couples therapy, life transitions, grief, and holistic health. I am experienced in integrating mind-body approaches to healing and fostering individual, as well as community empowerment. “I believe that my southern roots and global experiences shape my ability to deeply connect with others, with the intention of guiding them towards their most authentic selves.”

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we’ll begin with a brief introduction to help you get a sense of who I am and my therapeutic style. From there, we’ll explore the specific challenges you’re facing—whether they relate to trauma, life transitions, identity, relationships, or something else entirely. My goal is to understand not just your symptoms, but your story. Drawing from my background in evidence-based practices like CBT, ACT, DBT, trauma-informed therapies, and mindfulness, as well as my commitment to multicultural inclusion and mind-body healing, I’ll work with you to create a plan that feels tailored to you—not just your problems. This collaborative approach will guide our work in future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to integrate evidence-based interventions with a deeply human and culturally attuned approach. My background spans diverse settings—from VA hospitals and holistic recovery centers, university counseling centers, to private practice—which has helped me develop a flexible, trauma-informed style that can meet people wherever they are in their healing process. I bring a strong foundation in modalities like CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness, but what really anchors my work is my commitment to relational presence and liberation-based practice. I’m especially attuned to the needs of creatives, LGBTQ individuals, and communities navigating systemic oppression. I draw on both my Southern roots and global experience—including my Peace Corps service in Ecuador and living abroad—to foster meaningful connection across various identities. Clients often describe me as warm, patient, empathic, open, curious, nonjudgmental, grounded, and intuitive. I see therapy as a collaborative process, one that honors both clinical insight and personal wisdom. Whether supporting someone through grief, identity exploration, trauma recovery, or life transitions, I aim to create a space that feels safe, empowering, and deeply respectful of each person’s truth.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

create a physically and emotionally safe space where clients feel supported and respected. Trust and transparency guide my practice, ensuring open communication and collaborative decision-making. I empower clients by recognizing their strengths and resilience while remaining mindful of cultural identities, biases, and systemic factors. Through a trauma-informed approach, I foster healing, self-determination, and connection to supportive resources. In my practice, I specifically use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help clients, particularly those with PTSD or other trauma based diagnoses, identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts related to their trauma. Through structured techniques like psychoeducation, cognitive restructuring, and written trauma accounts, I guide clients in shifting their perspectives toward a more balanced and adaptive understanding of their experiences. By addressing "stuck points" and core beliefs around safety, trust, and control, clients can reduce distress and improve their overall well-being. This evidence-based approach supports healing by fostering resilience and helping clients regain a sense of empowerment in their lives.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my practice, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients accept difficult thoughts and emotions without judgment while committing to actions that align with their values. I guide clients in identifying their core values, developing mindfulness and acceptance techniques, and engaging in behavioral experiments to promote psychological flexibility. By shifting from struggling with distressing experiences to observing them with openness, I use ACT to help clients build resilience and make meaningful choices. This approach supports those dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, and other challenges by fostering a more fulfilling and values-driven life.

Supportive

In my practice, I use supportive therapy in an effort to provide clients with a safe, empathetic space where they can openly express their thoughts and emotions. By focusing on the present, I help clients build self-esteem, develop coping strategies, and strengthen their ability to manage stress and emotions. Through encouragement, active listening, and psychoeducation, I support clients in navigating life’s challenges while fostering resilience and confidence. This approach is flexible and can be used alone or alongside other therapeutic methods, like CBT, DBT, ACT, or other mindfulness-based practices to best meet each client's needs. Using an eclectic approach, I am equipped to support clients navigating a wide-range of challenges from anxiety, depression, grief, life-transitions, family/peer conflict and trauma.

Couples Counseling

In my eclectic approach to Couples Therapy, I incorporate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) principles to help individuals and couples recognize and transform negative emotional patterns in their relationships. By focusing on attachment dynamics, I guide clients in understanding their emotional needs, improving communication, and fostering deeper connection. I use empathy, validation, and reframing techniques to support clients in creating more secure and fulfilling relationships. While EFT informs my work, I integrate it flexibly with other approaches to best meet each client's unique needs.

Multicultural

In my practice, I integrate multicultural therapy by acknowledging and respecting the diverse cultural backgrounds and unique experiences of my clients. I consider how factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic background influence mental health and tailor my approach accordingly. By fostering cultural competence, I aim to create an inclusive and affirming space where clients feel understood and supported. This approach enhances the effectiveness of therapy by ensuring that interventions are relevant, respectful, and responsive to each client's lived experience.
