Hi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working with clients in Virginia. I earned my Master's degree from Bowie State University and my Doctorate at George Washington University. I have been practicing for over 10 years. I help adults find their existing strengths and help develop a map to work towards their goals. I have worked in multiple settings which has helped me become a compassionate and attentive listener who intuitively identifies strengths, thoughtfully analyzes challenges, and supports others in finding meaningful, strengths-based solutions.
In our first session, we will have a chance to introduce ourselves, answer any questions you have about the therapy process, and then learn about the goals you are trying to achieve. These goals will be the basis upon which we will build our plan on working together.
In my work, I've become skilled at taking big, overwhelming problems and breaking them down into manageable chunks so we can handle each part one step at a time.
I enjoy working with adults who are working through change in their lives. The exploration of possibilities and how to reach those possibilities. Change can be daunting at times, and skills that may have helped someone reach their current self may not always work in order to take the next step. Having the opportunity to find the skills and shoring up the confidence to implement those skills is a privilege for me when I work with a client.
The goal is to identify and change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors. After identifying the goals you want to work on, together we will identify unproductive thought patterns and seek to try out new behaviors.
Moving towards your goal is key, identifying your internal strengths and previous successes will provide a foundation upon which we can build. This then lets us look at confidence, progress, and potential next steps that you can take to reach your goal.
