Hello! My name is Sharon and I am a Therapist who has been working in the field of mental health for 20 years. I have worked in community mental health, inpatient hospital, rehab, and office settings. I have experience with clients of all ages but currently focused on adults and seniors. I use CBT, EMDR, Trauma-Informed Interventions to address anxiety, mood disorders, grief, trauma, and life transitions. I do have extensive experience with Severe Mental Health Issues such as Schizophrenia.
The first initial session will focus on gathering background information and history of the current concerns. Often times I hear from my clients that have had bad or unproductive therapy experiences in the past. This time can be used to explain what has not been helpful, then together come up with the next steps. This is always the client's journey, and I want to make sure I honor that.
I have 20 years working in this field with all ages. I have a lot of life experience as well and my strength is being able to build rapport with clients quickly. Though I have the years of experience each person is very unique, and I see therapy as a collaborative investigation into the deeper issues. Often times people have been misdiagnosed, unheard, and confused by the healthcare system. Being very open-minded and holding space to discover each client is my biggest. My hope is the client is able to discover themselves in a new light.
I work to serve the needs of the client and their personal journey. I am very non-judgmental and can work with a client to tailor the sessions to what they needing to heal and grow. I aim to provide a safe place to collaborate on navigating current life obstacles and challenges. My goal is to assist the client in healing themselves from self-sabotaging behaviors and design a road map where they want to be mentally and emotionally. I can work with depression, anxiety, bi-polar, schizophrenia, addiction, grief, and phase of life issues.
I have used CBT techniques and methods in conjunction with other treatment modalities to address the core issues which hold people back from breaking negative behavioral cycles.
EMDR is an amazing tool that I use for depression, anxiety, panic, and trauma.
I have worked in group settings the past 6 years and often is more effective in some situations then individual.
Using Mind-Body connection and Poly-vagal theories regarding the Central Nervous System, I take an approach that addresses the relationship between mental, emotional, and physical manifestations of discomfort.
