Great to meet you! My name is Rachel Gonzales, I am a licensed clinical social worker. My goal as your therapist will be to help you navigate painful thoughts and emotions while staying connected to your values. Our values are how we want to show up in life. Authenticity, connection, open mindedness, compassion, adventure, self-care...to name a few. Making value instead of pain-based decisions helps us feel more congruent and at peace with ourselves.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Opening up to a stranger can be hard! I aim to create a space where you will not be judged, but will be unconditionally supported as we work through your concerns. I believe that you are the expert on your life, and will utilize my experience to collaboratively find the relief and balance you seek. You can book directly on my website!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Bringing myself into the session and keeping it real. I believe this helps bring people's guards down. Because we are all just human after all, and doing the best we can. Including your therapist!

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have 15 years of experience working with a wide range of people from tech employees to college students. I specialize in working with young adults who are motivated to break generational cycles of dysfunction. It brings me so much joy to see people put a stop to toxic patterns like self sabotage and flourish in their relationships!

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I enjoy using ACT in sessions to help people find congruence between their values and actions. There are a variety of skills and exercises that can be used in session to facilitate this process.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This intervention can help simplify challenging experiences by bringing awareness to our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Using tools such as a thought record can often help shed light on harmful cognitive distortions.

Trauma Informed Care

This is a lense by which I see each person I work with and how they have been impacted by traumatic life experiences. It is our job as therapists to create a safe space so that people are not further harmed when being vulnerable in therapy.
