Hello. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in New York. I received my masters from Silver School of Social Work, NYU. My undergraduate degree in American Ethnic Studies from University of Washington. In my decade long career as a social worker I have worked in foster care, hospice care (adults and pediatrics), homeless drop in centers, HIV clinics/hospitals, and elder community centers and nursing homes. Providing therapy for people of all age groups and all walks of life.
In our first sessions, we will get to know each other; verbalize personal boundaries and set goals. So for our first session, ask me questions and tell me who you are. This is non-judgmental, sex-positive, trauma informed, open & safe space to explore thoughts and verbalize needs. I will do my best to guide you where you want to go and to provide different angles from a non-bias perspective.
My greatest strength as a provider is my commitment to the goal of your well-being. Sessions with me are open, non-judgmental, and relaxed. You will be getting homework from me, but I promise it won't be hard, but it will to empower to continue your growth outside of our therapeutic session and to support you daily well-being. You are in charge of your own journey and I am here to support you in navigation through it and a safe and healthy way. Nothing is too hard or uncomfortable to talk about. We can explore everything or nothing at all. You will always have a safe space with me. I am engaging and I am active participant in your care planning and your internal exploration during our time together.
I have experience in working with clients that have experience loss, immigration, complicated family traumas, life transitions, exploration of sexual identities, non-monogamy, managing your neuro-divergence tendencies, any existential political anxiety and the effects of social pressures like racial and economic stressors. I help my clients work through their thoughts and feelings and help them focus on their internal straights and find their self determination, goals and happiness.
I help patients learn to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts, and replace them with more positive, logical ones.
Attachment based theory is a form of psychotherapy that aims to improve insecure or disorganized attachment patterns. It is based on the theory that early childhood experiences with caregivers can significantly influence a person's ability to form healthy relationships later in life. We will definitely be talking about your parents.
I will help you focus on the present moment, move through difficult and negative emotions, and accepting your own thoughts and feelings without judgement.
I will help you with explore your feelings related to loss and change. I will help you re-defy your life goals. We will also work through your coping and improve coping skills.
We will learn together on understanding how our psychology is intertwined with our physical and social health. Education will be based on evidence scientifically based techniques and resources.
