Hi! I’m a licensed clinical social worker with a doctoral degree in community care and counseling specializing in trauma counseling, as well as a master’s degree in social work. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various care settings—from inpatient to outpatient—and with many different populations, including children and families in crisis, military personnel, and individuals facing dual diagnoses or severe mental health challenges. Trauma has become a central part of my work because it felt like nearly everyone I encountered had a story involving unprocessed trauma. Helping people work through those experiences has become my passion. A little about me: I’m originally from Northern New Jersey, but after serving six years in the Army as a combat medic, I settled in Texas. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out at the lake, traveling Texas with my husband in our camper, playing pickleball and golf (poorly), and spending time with my three kids. During the summer, I'll be poolside any chance I get!

Hi, I’m Sema—and I get it. I know that when you’re going through a difficult time, it can feel like no one truly hears you. Sometimes, even well-meaning people try to “fix” things without fully understanding what you're going through. That’s why I aim to offer something different: a safe, judgment-free space where you feel genuinely heard. My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion, connection, and collaboration. I believe in working alongside my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, identify the core of their challenges, and build practical tools to manage and move through them. Together, we don’t just talk about the problem—we work toward healing, growth, and long-term resilience. I earned my LMSW from Wayne State University in 2016 and have since supported individuals navigating a wide range of challenges including mental health concerns, grief and loss, substance use, complex family dynamics, and the emotional toll of physical health issues. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and integrative therapeutic techniques that help clients reframe negative thought patterns, develop coping strategies, and move toward becoming the best version of themselves. You don't have to do this alone. I'm here to support you, listen to you and walk with you through whatever you're facing.

Are you struggling with maintaining your sanity as a wife, mother and caretaker? Or are you just someone who needs clarity on what your needs really are? While sometimes it is difficult to understand your own needs, therapy is a way to maintain your self care, learn how to gain better understanding and communicate your needs and feelings, to help you address barriers to healthy relationships and accomplishing personal goals. As a therapist I have 16 years of experience in helping adults and adolescents identify their own needs and collaborate to help them recognize how to improve upon those barriers. My primary interest is in helping individuals gain insight into their self worth in order to better manage life and mental health barriers. In therapy with me clients learn how to adjust negative thinking, improve self care, adjust self esteem and adjust your ability to believe in yourself. Sure therapy can be scary and even stigmatized but with the right collaboration it can be a godsend. Let me help you on your journey, let me help you adjust your crown.

You are taking steps to answer questions and find solutions to real problems. Many of us are navigating systems that were not designed to nourish us, and growing through hardships that leave us feeling isolated and overwhelmed. I specialize in helping people (especially LGBTQ+ and minoritized communities) understand how therapeutic skills (acceptance and commitment, interpersonal skills, trauma work, emotion regulation) can be applied to overcome and liberate. By enhancing your strengths, reworking and relearning coping mechanisms, reframing beliefs about the world and yourself, and enacting mindful behaviors with intention, you can find a way through. Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Ohio rather than a city like Columbus?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Ohio from Cincinnati to Cleveland! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Ohio.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Self Esteem?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Self Esteem, is filtering therapists in Ohio that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
