Have you ever wondered, “What is wrong with me?” If your mirror can talk back to you, what would it say? What good things or bad things will it tell you and how would you respond? I will be the mirror that will help you learn more about yourself and will give you an honest reflection so that you can make the best decisions for yourself. I tailor my counseling approach based on your specific needs and goals. I combine a person-centered counseling approach with brief solution-focused therapy to give you the best outcome. I have a master’s in counseling with a dual emphasis on both School Counseling and Agency Counseling. I have over 17 years of counseling experience with all age groups, diverse populations, and subject matter. You don’t have to do life alone. Bring me your challenges, your struggles, and your troubles, and let’s work together to resolve them. I also provide Christian counseling: God never promised us a life free from struggles, pain, or sorrows (John 16.33); however, He did promise that He will never leave us (Matthew 28.20). Life is not meant to be lived alone: It’s not a good thing (Genesis 2.18). I am here to support you and to remind you that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139.13-14), and you are loved (John 3.16). Nothing is impossible with God (Matthew 19.26). Whatever you are struggling with, whatever troubles you, know that God has a purpose for your life (Romans 8.28). As a Christian counselor, you can trust that my counseling approach will not stray from the teaching of the Bible. May God guide us as we work together to understand His purpose and His plan for the challenges in your life.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, we’ll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you’re facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Completing the intake form is highly recommended, allowing me to vet if we are an appropriate match and will provide us more time to address your challenges.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Here are some quotes from my clients: "Teya is the best listener and has wonderful advice. I truly appreciate her." "Teya is friendly and very down to earth. She makes it easy for her client to relax and be themselves. She listens and respects her client's pace and what is important. One of her highlights is her ability to be genuine. I appreciate how she is her natural self. She does not camouflage herself and has a good balance of personal and professional." "I was very nervous to start therapy. Teya has put me at ease and I’m making significant progress. I’m feeling better and more confident about myself."
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Minorities, Christian, and individual counseling. Due to virtual setting, no couples counseling or family counseling.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use this technique to connect to my clients and help them feel heard. I respect my client to come up with their own solution. I function as a mirror to help sort out their thoughts so they can see their problems and decide what they want to change about themselves.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help my client understand their thoughts, feelings, and action. Through CBT, we can explore patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and work to break any unhealthy patterns.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I want to provide the quickest solution in the shortest amount of time. I want to make sure that every client leaves the session feeling heard and equipped with tools they can use to cope with after the first session.
Christian Counseling
I incorporate Biblical values with counseling. Values of treating others with kindness, gentleness, love, respect, and honesty. I make sure my counseling advice is inline with Biblical teachings. I show clients how Biblical strategies can be used to heal them.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I enjoy working with diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. I am patience with Clients new to America. I incorporate the role that family plays in creating the individual. Through counseling, we can learn to appreciate our unique identity and use that to our advantage.

Terrible experience. Immature counselor. Spent the last four sessions discussing what wasn't going right at her home. Had a CRITICAL accident in the middle of therapy and an ultimatum of the healing date was given or counseling wld cease. Also advised me more than one time to reconnect with a lifelong family abuser, a pedofile , after I had spent 2 years of recovering with no contact. I had to remind her that people don't do that. She is niave, immature & unrealistic in what people can do.

Teya listens. She gave great feedback and offered me good ideas for further action today. She is challenging me to get out of my comfort zone, and I appreciate that. I look forward to our next session. I tried working with another therapist, but she didn't seem to listen what I wanted to accomplish. I'm SO glad I found Teya!
