About me

Hi, I'm so happy you're here! My name is Maggie and I am a Colorado based licensed clinical social worker seeing clients in Oregon, Colorado, and Idaho via telehealth. I graduated from the University of Houston with a Master of Social Work in 2020 and since have worked in both medical and psychiatric hospital settings as a case manager and crisis intervention specialist and for a nonprofit providing solution-focused brief therapy and crisis intervention to teens and their families. Taking the first step to contact a therapist can feel intimidating and sometimes conflicting. Please feel more than welcome to reach out to see if we would be a good match!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session together, we will mainly focus on getting to know one another while discussing what brought you to therapy and any previous experience with it. The therapeutic relationship between you and I will be ongoing however, the groundwork is laid in that initial session. I'm here to help you start that process in a low-stakes first session.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Working in several different settings has provided a unique lens that I have used throughout my career in Social Work. I greatly value a strengths based approach and clear, honest, and open communication both in session and out of session in order to build trust and a supportive therapeutic environment. I practice active listening while cultivating a calm environment in order to ensure a level of comfort for you to guide your own process throughout therapy. I believe that each individual has the capability and means within themselves for growth. As a social worker, it is always my goal to empower the client throughout treatment for that growth to occur.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with adults (18+) and families navigating life and relationship issues, anxiety, and depression with a main focus on approaching each client through a trauma informed lens. My goal is to meet you where you are and work collaboratively to move through whatever it is that brought you to therapy by focusing on your strengths and identifying a plan that feels comfortable in order to meet your goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I mainly use cognitive-behavioral therapy to identify thought patterns and behaviors that may be inhibiting personal and relational progress.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I have used Solution Focused Brief Treatment throughout my career while working with clients and patients in different settings; I find that it is most helpful for short-term interventions and crisis work. I oftentimes pair it with a safety plan if needed.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based theory can be very helpful identifying and understanding the "why" behind certain behaviors, actions, and thoughts for both individuals and families. I find it to be a very informative approach with individuals and families who have difficulty with interpersonal relationships.

Compassion Focused

I believe that the client therapist relationship is the most influential component in therapy; compassion being the main builder of trust in that relationship. I focus on utilizing active listening and empathy throughout each session in order to build on the client therapist relationship.

Strength-Based

I have used a strength-based approach throughout the entirety of my career in Social Work and during graduate school. We work with some of the most vulnerable clients and therapy is no different; it can oftentimes feel intimidating starting. Focusing on the strengths that each client has and building on them can alleviate that daunting feeling. I believe that every individual has the capability to change and grow within them and it takes highlighting current strengths to foster growth.
