Hi, I’m Dr. Tracy LaChapelle (Dr. T). I’m here to help you navigate life’s challenges with confidence and compassion. I draw on evidence-based, trauma-informed care to support you if you’re working through trauma, depression, anxiety, loneliness, ADHD or other forms of neurodiversity, disabilities, self-esteem concerns, social anxiety, autism, or major life transitions. I’m also deeply committed to providing Gender-Affirming Care, and I strive to offer a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your identity, feel supported, and experience genuine acceptance. I believe therapy isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about discovering your strengths and supporting you in becoming your truest self. Together, we’ll move at your pace as you heal, grow, and thrive.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session with me is meant to feel comfortable, relaxed, and completely pressure-free. My style is laid-back, flexible, and often sprinkled with a little humor—I want you to feel at ease and just be yourself. Many people who are new to therapy, or who’ve had less-than-great experiences in the past, tell me they feel at ease pretty quickly. During our first meeting, you are in the driver’s seat. I’ll invite you to share what brings you in, what you’re hoping to work toward, and what “feeling better” means for you. Think of it like entering your destination into a GPS: you choose where you want to go, and together we’ll figure out the route that gets you there. Here’s what you can expect: A warm, welcoming, nonjudgmental space Time to talk about your concerns at your own pace Gentle questions to help clarify what you want and need Collaboration in building a plan that feels doable—and empowering Permission to be fully yourself, with no need to prepare or be perfect By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer sense of direction, a feel for how I can support you, and a shared path forward that feels right for you. If anything doesn’t feel like a fit, we adjust together—this is your journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My Greatest Strengths When we work together, my goal is for you to feel supported by a therapist who is real, grounded, and genuinely invested in your wellbeing. I show up as myself—warm, relatable, and fully present—because I know that feeling safe with your therapist is the foundation for meaningful work. Here’s what clients often say stands out about my approach: A Commitment to Excellence and Growth I take my professional development seriously. Each year, I participate in advanced therapeutic trainings, present at conferences, and contribute to peer-reviewed research. This means you receive care that’s both compassionate and informed by the most current, evidence-based practices. I’m always learning—so I can always offer you my best. Authenticity and Transparency I don’t believe therapy has to feel formal or distant. Clients often tell me how refreshing it is to work with someone who shows up authentically. When I’m real with you, it creates space for you to be real too—without judgment, pressure, or the need to perform. Results Built on Collaboration and Trust Because I focus on building trust from our very first session, many clients find themselves opening up more easily and making meaningful progress sooner than they expected. Together, we don’t just address challenges—we uncover strengths, build resilience, and create lasting, empowering change in your life. My approach is rooted in the belief that you already have the potential to thrive; my job is to help you access it, nurture it, and move forward with confidence.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to turn next, I’m here to help you feel safe, understood, and supported—exactly as you are. With more than 25 years of clinical experience, I work best with clients who are looking for a therapeutic space where they can feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported. You might be navigating emotional challenges, exploring your identity, moving through a major life transition, or noticing old patterns that no longer serve you. What matters most is that you’re open to healing, growing, and discovering new strengths within yourself. I’m especially passionate about working with people who: Want to feel comfortable and secure with their therapist Are seeking a warm, authentic, judgment-free space Are motivated to understand themselves more deeply Want tools and strategies to move past barriers Hope to build confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being Value a collaborative, strengths-focused approach May be new to therapy—or returning after past experiences that didn’t feel helpful If this sounds like you, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Together, we’ll work to uncover your strengths, gain meaningful insight, and create sustainable, empowering change. My goal is to help you feel better, function better, and step more fully into the strongest, most authentic version of yourself.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Dr. T uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a highly effective, evidence-based approach that helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In CBT, you’ll learn how to identify unhelpful or negative thinking patterns and replace them with more balanced, realistic, and supportive thoughts—leading to healthier behaviors and improved emotional well-being. Because many emotional and behavioral reactions are learned over time, CBT focuses on the empowering belief that they can also be unlearned or changed. With guidance, practice, and support, clients gain practical tools to shift old patterns, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change in their daily lives.

Gender-affirming therapy

Dr. T provides Gender-Affirming Therapy, a holistic, supportive approach that honors each person’s unique experience of gender identity and expression. This therapeutic method focuses on understanding and validating your emotional, social, and physical needs related to gender, while offering a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore who you are. Gender-affirming therapy may include discussing social, legal, or medical options—only if and when you choose—always at your pace and based on your goals. The focus is on helping you feel happy, healthy, and safe in your gender, with the support of a therapist who respects and affirms your authentic self.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dr. T uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support clients in understanding how their traumatic experiences, triggers, and emotional responses shape their current patterns. DBT offers practical, compassionate interventions that honor each person’s individual needs and recognize the profound impact trauma can have on emotion regulation and behavior. In DBT, clients receive validation of their feelings—without judgment—and are encouraged to express thoughts and emotions openly and safely. Treatment focuses on developing skills such as emotional self-regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and healthy communication. Through these strategies, clients learn to: Manage overwhelming emotions. Strengthen coping abilities. Build resilience. Reduce self-destructive patterns. Move toward healing and a greater sense of stability. DBT provides both structure and support, helping clients feel more grounded, empowered, and capable in their daily lives.

Dr T is truly trauma informed. She is the best therapist I have ever worked with in all aspects. She is clear with her boundaries and creates relationships with her clients to enable trust and growth. She understands neurodivergent issues. Every session has left me feeling renewed hope and empowerment. Again, she is the best therapist I've ever worked with.
