Hi, I am a clinical Social Worker in Maryland. I came to this career later in life, so I bring not only my education, but my life experiences. I work with adults who are experiencing challenging relationships with family members, with themselves, or both. We will work together to uncover your true self, find self compassion and identify what you can do to become the best version of yourself.
In our first session you have two options, you can share what you are struggling with or I can ask specific questions to get to know you. These sessions are for you, so we will do what makes you most comfortable.
I have a lot of compassion for my clients. I understand how hard it can be to seek therapy and I want to make it a safe place for you to open up. I also know that in order to grow, we need to be challenged. "Comfort is a safe place, but nothing grows there." I will validate when needed and push when needed.
I love working with adults, of all genders, who are stuck in a relationship and don't know what the next steps are. Even if you are not quite ready to be vulnerable, I will meet you where you are and make space for you to share. We will work, at your pace, to identify what you are struggling with and how to get you where you want to be.
ACT is an approach that helps to make space for uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, not fight to get rid of them. Often you will find that giving up this struggle frees up time and energy to work towards building a life that is full of actions in line with who you want to be.
