Hello, I’m Joanna, a therapist dedicated to helping adults move through life’s challenges with support, compassion, and clarity. At Prestige Therapy, I believe healing happens through connection, honest conversation, and a space where you can show up exactly as you are. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that everyone deserves to feel seen and understood. I bring over eight years of experience working with children, teens, and adults across many settings, including psychiatry, child welfare, juvenile court, and community-based services. As I continue my doctorate, I combine advanced training with a strong commitment to being fully present with you. My background in trauma-informed care helps me approach your story with sensitivity and curiosity while offering practical tools to support your growth. Our work together is guided by holistic and evidence-based practices that honor your unique needs. Whether you're navigating trauma, stress, emotional challenges, or major life transitions, we will take each step with intention. My values—excellence, empathy, encouragement, and empowerment—shape every part of the therapy process so you can feel supported, confident, and equipped to heal in your own time.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session with me will feel welcoming, steady, and pressure-free. We’ll start by talking about what’s been weighing on you, what’s bringing you to therapy, and what you want to feel or function differently. I’ll ask gentle questions to understand your experiences and the challenges you’re facing, but you’ll never be pushed to share more than you’re ready for. Together, we’ll begin shaping a plan that feels supportive and realistic, so you leave the session feeling heard, understood, and clear about your next steps.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to build trusting, meaningful therapeutic relationships. I offer a calm, supportive environment where you can explore your experiences without pressure. I blend evidence-based approaches—including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment strategies, and motivational interviewing—with empathy and authenticity. I focus on helping you build coping skills, increase self-awareness, and create changes that last beyond the therapy room.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I’m a good fit for adults who want to focus on personal growth, manage stress, and strengthen their emotional well-being. I support individuals navigating anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I work especially well with people who are open to reflection and ready to take steps toward meaningful, lasting change. Together, we’ll build skills that help you feel more grounded, focused, and empowered in your daily life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge negative thoughts that influence emotions and behaviors. In my practice, I use CBT techniques like thought reframing, behavioral activation, and coping skill development to promote healthier thinking patterns and emotional regulation. It’s a goal-focused, practical approach that empowers clients to create lasting change.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have experience using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build distress tolerance by accepting difficult emotions and committing to actions that reflect their values. In my practice, I use mindfulness, acceptance strategies, and values-based work to help clients manage discomfort and create meaningful change in their lives.

Motivational Interviewing

I have experience using Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore and resolve ambivalence about change. In my practice, I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmations to strengthen clients’ motivation and confidence in making positive choices that align with their goals.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I have experience using a Person-Centered approach to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard and valued. In my practice, I use empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness to help clients gain self-awareness and move toward personal growth and self-acceptance.

Narrative

I have experience using Narrative Therapy to help clients separate themselves from their problems and rewrite their personal stories in more empowering ways. In my practice, I encourage clients to explore how their experiences and beliefs shape their identity and to develop new narratives that reflect strength, resilience, and growth.
