I am an experienced Licensed Counselor located in Michigan and I offer tele-therapy services to adults. I received my Master's in Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. My clinical focus is on empowering individuals through increasing communication, skills and self awareness to help navigate through life's challenges. I embrace the collaborative process of helping individuals work towards their most authentic and healthy version of themselves.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, I will introduce myself, my professional background and approach to therapy. We will review policies, confidentiality and what therapy is/is not along with anticipated results and your expectations of therapy. I will ask you to share about your background and what brings you to therapy, your current situation, goal setting and any questions you may have.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Some of my greatest strengths as a therapist are being able to connect and provide a non-judgmental safe space with others who feel comfortable in sharing their experience in a way that promotes an openness to learning new skills, fostering growth and nurturing improved self awareness. My approach empowers individuals to become their most authentic version of themselves using improved communication, employing skills needed to counter difficult situations and growing through life's sometimes difficult transitions.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work best with individuals who have already have some effective coping skills in place and who are functioning in their daily lives despite challenges being faced. This may mean an individual already has areas of success in their lives, such as with career or relationships yet they are still experiencing some difficulties due to life transitions, stress, low mood, increased anxiety, feelings of overwhelm or feelings of needing to better connect within their lives. Individuals may be in need of talking through difficult issues, learning additional coping skills, increasing communication and/or self awareness, or even expanding their understanding of interconnectedness of stress/environment on the body/mind to learn how to reduce negative symptoms.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help clients focus on the present, understand the interconnectedness of thoughts, feelings, behaviors; collaborate on goal setting, identifying issues and strategies for change. I help equip clients with adding skills to manage their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I also incorporate Mindfulness based therapy, including Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist clients in increasing awareness of internal processes (thoughts/feelings/emotions) and external situations to process automatic responses free from stress or judgment.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I offer a Person-centered approach with clients to nurture an empathetic and supportive, non-judgmental environment. This way you can explore thoughts and feelings without judgment, fostering self awareness and self discovery as you work towards growth.

Somatic

In using a Somatic approach, I help clients increase their awareness of tension and stress the body may be storing to help foster the mind-body connection in the healing process.
