Finding a therapist you can identify with, feeling heard & accepted can be a challenging feat. Therapists are not one size fits all. We are people with problems, just like you. I offer you over 20 years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment world. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology (2001) and a graduate degree (2006) in professional counseling. With working 10 of those years in a hospital setting, I also have a decent handle on possible medical issues you might need to be referred for. After more life experience, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2016 and opened my private practice. I can't tell you all the answers to life's problems, but together we can come to what the best decision will be for you in particular. Your goals and values are worth exploring. Your likes and dislikes matter. Your happiness is not selfish.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Clients will get to know who I am and evaluate whether we are a good fit. I want to ensure the ability to build trust is there as trust is a very fundamental quality in propagating positive change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My biggest strength is treating ADHD, anxiety, depression as well as grief and loss. I understand the darkness, angst, helplessness, hopelessness, feeling off-kilter, lack of motivation and energy, irritability and inability to feel emotions fully. I see the feeling shaky, nervous, cold sweats, exhaustion, restlessness, rapid heart rate, tight chest, aching stomach and racing thoughts. The nights of missed sleep, the gaping hole left in your life, not being able to put one foot in front of the other, loneliness, feeling blocked from moving on, exasperation, and fear.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Adults with ADHD, depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions. I am an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider qualified to treat Adults with ADHD who have difficulty with Executive Functioning, mood dysregulation, and co-occurring disorders like Anxiety and Depression.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy involves education, mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help alleviate symptoms through accepting what brings us life via our values and how we want to live our lives.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With CBT, we look at your experiences, thought patterns, and the moods & behaviors that result. I help you explore what new thought patterns and behaviors work to improve your symptoms.

So this is my first session with Denise but she was pretty amazing. I definitely felt safe talking to her and very seen. I will definitely be coming back!

Denise has been a great match for me-- She's an amazing therapist. She truly listens to what I have to say, she's compassionate, she offers solutions and helps me set goals (if that's what I want), and I really feel like she understands me and the things I deal with. Our therapy sessions are helping in my daily life, and allowing me an outlet I did not have previously. I highly recommend Denise!
