As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I bring a unique approach to my clinical work, empathizing with vulnerability as a key aspect, complemented by a strong sense of empathy and curiosity. I have a deep passion for the therapeutic process and a firm believer in the transformative power of change. I have spent years working with folks who are struggling with many different mental health issues; however, my specialties are listed below.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During your first session, we will start by discussing the challenges that have brought you into therapy. We will take as much time as we need to get to know one another. I know firsthand how scary and difficult it can be to decide to reach out for help. Together we will create a safe space and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Ideally, during this session, we will work together to build a plan of action to get you to a place where at the end of therapy you feel you have reached your goals. If you aren't sure what your goals are yet, that is OK. We can work together to identify your goals and the best route to get you there.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My practice is guided by an anti-racist/anti-oppressive and multicultural perspective focusing on supporting underserved and marginalized communities. Additionally, I am LGBTQIA+-affirming and keenly aware of the significance of cultural nuances with minority groups.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is a type of mindfulness-based therapy that encourages people to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than pushing them away, running from them, or feeling guilty about them. Hence, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques emphasize acceptance rather than avoidance. ACT is part of what’s known as the “third wave” of behavioral therapies, which also includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). The first wave was aimed toward changing unwanted behaviors without looking at the thoughts behind those behaviors, and the second wave included approaches such as CBT and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT).

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, ect. CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change thinking patterns.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is especially effective for people who have difficulty managing and regulating their emotions.

Couples Counseling

Couples therapy (also known as psychotherapy or talk therapy) is used to treat mental health conditions or patterns of behavior, thoughts, or emotional reactions that are dysfunctional.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy is a type of non-directive therapy that is empathetically driven toward providing a person with a safe space to talk, self-actualize realize their full potential, and make positive changes in their life.
